About the role
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Dusty. Tasks: Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : AZ class license. Air Brakes Endorsement. Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports. Bill of lading. Driver logbook. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Maintenance and repair reports. Trip reports. Type of trucking and equipment: Tractor-trailer. Communication systems experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment. Transportation/travel experience: Local. Security and safety: Valid passport. Basic security clearance. Driver's validity licence check. Driving record check (abstract). Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Physically demanding. Repetitive tasks. Own tools/equipment: Cellular phone. Hard hat. Steel-toed safety boots. Tools. Safety vest.
