About The Role Canadian Blood Services is looking for 2 Temporary full-time Laboratory Assistants to join our dynamic Supply Chain Operations West team.

Formula for success

  • Drawing on your laboratory experience, you will be receiving, assessing and producing whole blood, apheresis platelets and plasma into requested blood components.
  • Utilizing your knowledge and understanding of blood component production, you will be assisting the laboratory manager in the development and evaluation of procedures.
  • Using your excellent organizational skills, you will be involved in the maintenance of appropriate documentation and records related to inventory in compliance with Canadian Blood Services operational procedures and work instructions.
  • Applying your ability to be proactive and ensure excellence, you will be performing routine maintenance of equipment and work areas to ensure the safety and quality of blood products.

Desired education and skills

  • Completion of high school diploma.
  • Laboratory Assistant Certificate and one (1) year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
  • Ability to organize workload and work under pressure, with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to operate related laboratory equipment.

What you can expect

  • Schedule: Wednesday to Sunday 06:00 - 14:00 with days off being Monday and Tuesday.
  • Physical requirements - ability to lift weight up to 10 kg (22 lbs.).
