About the role
Are you an IT finance expert with a knack for translating complex financial data into actionable insights? Can you lead the financial operations for a large IT portfolio, manage a small team, and play a crucial role in a major system migration? If so, this could be your next career move!
We’re on the hunt for a seasoned IT Finance Manager to join a dynamic team in Oakville, ON. This is a net new position, created to meet the growing need for a dedicated professional to oversee the IT finance function. You’ll be a key liaison between the IT and Finance departments, bridging the gap between technical and non-technical teams from a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) perspective.
This role is perfect for someone who excels in a hybrid work model, with a mandatory three days in the office, including set days on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The office space has been recently renovated with a mix of cubicles and collaborative "scrum spaces" to support both individual focus and team projects.
Advantages
- Competitive base salary
- Annual bonus
- Excellent health and dental program
- RRSP match program
- Hybrid working - 3 days in office
- Employee stock purchase plan
- Financial support for CPA dues/professional development
Responsibilities
- Leading Financial Operations: You will lead and manage all aspects of IT finance operations, including budgeting, forecasting, long-range capital planning, and variance analysis.
- Driving a Major Migration: This is the most critical priority. You will be instrumental in migrating from a manual, homegrown system to a new enterprise-grade financial management tool, IBM Apptio. You’ll be brought on board in mid-October to lead the discovery and implementation of this new platform.
- Managing a Team: You will have two direct reports, an Accounts Payable Specialist and an IT Finance Analyst, and will be a key part of the broader IT pillar.
- Ensuring Financial Compliance: You’ll be responsible for approving invoices and purchase orders, ensuring they align with financial policies. You’ll also oversee the financial alignment of consulting contracts and track software and hardware assets.
- Collaborating and Communicating: You will work closely with both IT and central finance teams. Your ability to translate complex financial concepts to IT leaders and vice versa will be crucial to your success.
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will have progressive experience in finance, with a specific background in IT finance or financial management within a technology environment. We are seeking someone with a strong FP&A background who can also communicate effectively about IT-specific vendors, hardware, and software.
- Experience: A minimum of five years of progressive finance experience, with at least two years in an IT finance or technology-focused financial management role.
- Skills: A strong understanding of financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes is essential. You must have advanced analytical skills and be highly proficient in Excel. Experience with financial operations systems, especially tools like IBM Apptio, would be a significant advantage.
- Designation: A CPA designation is preferred, but open to candidates with an MBA or other strong finance backgrounds who have a solid understanding of finance principles.
- Traits: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are non-negotiable. We're looking for someone who is personable and can build strong relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a team where you can make a tangible impact by modernizing manual and cumbersome financial processes. If you’re ready to take on a challenge and drive change, please apply or share with your network!
