Board Certified Behaviour Analysts (BCBA) are Associated Professionals that have responsibilities related to supporting students requiring Intensive Behavioural Interventions. BCBAs also support students who have been referred for intensive support and intervention through district referral processes. This associated professional reports to the school principal.
Key Responsibilities Of The BCBA
- Provide support and case management for students.
- Collaboratively work with caregivers, community partners and staff, to support students' social, emotional and behavioural needs and to develop goals in the form of competency-based IEP goals.
- Develop, model and coach universal and visual support strategies.
- Assess behaviours through skilled interview processes, functional assessment observations, data collection, and other formal and informal processes.
- Analyze data and make data-driven decisions to support the intervention process.
- Assist with the development, monitoring, and implementation of individual Positive Behaviour Support plans for students.
- Consult, communicate and collaborate with site-based teams, including administrators, teachers and support staff to support inclusive practices.
- As a member of a multidisciplinary team, participate in the development and implementation of activities related to ensuring school and community health and safety, such as Safety Plans, Student Success Plans, and other formal and informal plans.
- Collaborate with other associated professionals to design and implement functional communication interventions and training.
- Provide training and in-service to school and district staff.
- Train, model, implement and coach trauma-informed practices.
- Train, model, implement and support family-centered care practice.
- Coordinate with community partners to create comprehensive support networks for students and their families.
- Monitor and communicate student progress through formal and informal processes.
- Maintain standing as a BCBA, through the board's recertification professional development recertification cycle.
- Engage in professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills to support the K-12 system.
- Adhere to the BCBA Code of Ethics.
- Practice Appreciative Inquiry, in supporting school staff.
Required Qualifications
- a four-year university degree in psychology, applied behaviour analysis, social work, counselling, education, youth work, or equivalent.
- current Board Certified Behaviour Analyst certification.
- experience in social, emotional, and behaviour development, including at minimum 750 hours of Applied Behavioural Analysis experience.

PLEASE NOTE The starting annual salary for this School Teacher position ranges from $59,711-$109,520, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
