McMillan has a full-time permanent opportunity for a Business Innovation & Knowledge Services Technician in the Vancouver Office, supporting the workstreams of the national Business Innovation & Knowledge Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for a new information professional looking to acquire skills and experience in various areas within the information, data and business knowledge management space. We are seeking an energetic, self-motivated individual who is a team player, excels under pressure, has a flexible attitude and effectively establishes priorities.
It is important to note that this role has a requirement to work onsite in the office at all times.
What You’ll Do
Business Innovation & Knowledge Services Team Support
- Maintain national team coverage and deliver of front-line internal client service by fulfilling requests in functional areas
- Perform general administrative duties including operational support for projects, subscription management, processing invoices and data entry
- Supervising occasional/contract team members
- Undertake special projects and other duties as assigned
Information Governance
- Support day-to-day operations of the IG department, including retrieval of files from offsite storage and responding to inquiries from Firm members
- Assist with digitization initiative, including tracking, scanning and saving files into Firm’s document management system, and monitoring and reporting on onsite file volumes
- Review boxes and confirm files match inventory in preparation for destruction at the off-site facility
- Complete data cleanup project
Research and Library Services
- Distribute current awareness and alerts
- Circulation duties including arranging books on shelves, assisting lawyers and students with locating books, signing in and out books and coordinating interlibrary loans
- Library collection maintenance including maintaining the physical library, shifting, weeding and loose-leaf filing
Intranet
- Maintain department agnostic pages and content such as the home page, policies page and firm calendar aligned to business knowledge management best practices
- Facilitate and execute updates for operations, legal teams and committees
- Solicit feedback for updates on a monthly basis and maintain a tracker of updates
- Create new pages, add new web parts and build resource libraries
- Evaluate and report on usage statistics on a regular basis
- Capture, communicate and advance enhancement requests
What You Bring
- Keen interest in knowledge services and business innovation
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
- Experience with Sharepoint Online is an asset
- Able to prioritize tasks from different work streams and work effectively under pressure
- Comfortable working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Excellent organizational skills and a keen attention to detail
- Demonstrate good critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lift boxes of files up to 35 pounds

Salary range: $50,000 - $55,000 annually
