Job Summary:
The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for final (QA) inspection of lenses and completed jobs. They are also responsible for preventative maintenance and cleaning of equipment according to the provided schedule.
Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for inspecting uncut lenses against cosmetic and optical standards.

Responsible for thoroughly inspect edged and assembled lenses to ensure meets Hoya specifications and standards.
-
Care taken to preserve the condition of new and customer’s own frames. Proper frame alignment must be maintained.

Cosmetic inspection of all lenses coming out from Anti-reflective Coating Department.
-
Responsible for mounting side shields to safety frames and ensuring orders meet CSA standards.
-
Responsible for basic operation, cleaning and ongoing maintenance of laboratory tools and equipment using established maintenance procedures and calendars.

Support production conformance to minimum standards regarding: - % avg. days per job (turnaround time)

Other duties as assigned, including cross-training and rotation as required.
Product / Technical Knowledge:

Strives to improve technical knowledge daily and continually applies that knowledge in the production of all eyewear.

Utilizes product knowledge to determine the best manufacturing process for routine and special orders in order to produce top-quality eyewear.

Performs multiple tasks simultaneously with accuracy and thoroughness despite time pressures and customer volume.
-
Is attentive to detail with all measurements, calculations, equipment settings and defective products.
-
Takes the initiative to notice and follow up on discrepancies; suggests improvements; recommends solutions and does what is necessary to ensure customer satisfaction.

Operates the system inputting all lab statistics with accuracy and attention to detail.
Qualifications:
-
Fine inspection experience required; optical background highly preferred.
-
Technically inclined/ machinery experience is an asset.
-
Must be able to work in a fast-paced high-volume environment.
-
Experience that requires alpha-numerical recognition, interpretation and execution is an asset.
-
Must be well organized, have excellent time management and multi-tasking abilities, and have a heightened sense of urgency.

Continuous learning is a large part of this position, and therefore the ability to retain varying degrees of information is required (significant use of memory)
-
Must have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
-
Must be able to work in a team atmosphere as well as an individual with minimal supervision.
-
Standing, walking, reaching and bending constantly throughout the day.
-
Low, moderate and high noise levels (not to exceed standards)
-
Work produced is subject to precise measures of quantity and quality.
-
Excellent near vision and sharp focus to adjust vision when doing close work.
-
Fine motor skills / manual dexterity is required to manipulate objects. Handling by seizing, holding, grasping, turning or otherwise working with the hands and fingers.

Occasional lifting/ carrying 10lbs or less, pushing/ pulling 30lbs or less
