ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Transportation Operations Analyst to join our team. This role is essential to the smooth operation of our school transportation services, ensuring students are transported safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively. The successful candidate will manage contracts with transportation providers, oversee budgets and purchasing, coordinate daily operations, and provide guidance to staff. The Analyst will also serve as the main point of contact for schools, transporters, and parents, addressing inquiries and resolving complaints with professionalism.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Negotiate and manage contracts with transportation providers.

  • Liaise with schools, transporters, parents, and internal stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery.

  • Receive, investigate, and resolve parent complaints, ensuring timely communication and follow-up.

  • Collaborate with the transportation coordinator to manage daily operations and departmental tasks.

  • Monitor and manage the transportation department’s budget, including invoicing and financial reporting.

  • Oversee the purchasing of goods and services related to transportation operations.

  • Plan, analyze, and optimize transportation routes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

  • Provide guidance, support, and leadership to administrative and professional staff.

  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards to improve efficiency and ensure compliance with contracts and regulations.

  • Prepare reports, analyses, and recommendations for management on operations, expenditures, and service quality.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in administration, operations management, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in contract negotiation, financial administration, and operational management (transportation experience an asset).

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.

  • Knowledge of budgeting, invoicing, and purchasing processes.

  • Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Full-time position with standard office hours; some flexibility may be required during peak transportation periods.

  • Occasional on-site visits to schools and transportation providers.

  • Salary and benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience, following school board policies.

ANNUAL SALARY:

In accordance with the Professionals’ Agreement: $54 442 to $93 306 per 35-hour week, according to qualifications and experience.
