Job Description There’s no pledge more important than the one we make to look after our environment, and we’re committed to helping you do exactly that. Our GTA offices are looking for a Technical Director/Lead Electrical Engineer to join the Engineering Design Organization (EDO) group.

Make decisions and recommendations recognized as authoritative and have important business impact on extensive engineering activities related to manufacturing and installation of electrical equipment, components, or systems for commercial, industrial, military, or scientific use or for large-scale production and distribution of electrical power. Solve a variety of unique and complex engineering problems. Assess feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering solutions. Act as an expert and authority in the company in a broad area of specialization.

Responsibilities

  • Feasibility Studies: Lead the conducting of the most-complex feasibility studies from a technological and organizational perspective and document findings to complete cost-benefit analysis on implementing changes to business processes, products, or business unit structure.
  • Engineering Solutions Design: Design complex and/or innovative engineering solutions and the associated validation process to enable the realization of a design brief (for example, in terms of functionality, performance, aesthetics, and cost) that conforms to organizational and/or regulatory standards.
  • Installation Monitoring and Control: Translate installation monitoring and control policies into action plans, aiming to meet specified safety and efficiency outcomes while guiding the wider business.
  • Culture of Innovation: Drive a culture of innovation by creating multistakeholder solutions that boost creativity, innovation, and collaboration across business units, such as idea generation platforms, jam sessions, and hackathons.
  • Improvement/Innovation: Identify shortcomings in existing business practices, then suggest and implement improvements while developing and delivering projects or a work stream within the organization's change management program. Involves working with guidance from senior colleagues.
  • Technical Developments Recommendation: Lead the execution of strategic technical developments recommendation, overseeing a significant area of responsibility.
  • Professional Supervision: Lead and oversee the provision of professional supervision to ensure that there is effective professional supervision that supports practitioners' professional development and embeds reflective practice.
  • Knowledge Management: Develop policies and processes, create best practices, set up case studies, and deliver internal knowledge-sharing sessions to capture and share knowledge among colleagues on project/program outcomes and innovative practices in a particular area of expertise and to support the practice.
  • Engineering Standards Specification: Design and develop engineering standards and specifications for an assigned engineering discipline to be adhered to by the organization and/or its suppliers, contractors, and consultants to ensure engineering work of the required quality is delivered and to manage the risks associated with engineering programs.
  • Needs Assessment: Engage with senior business leaders to understand long-term strategic challenges.
  • Client & Customer Management (External): Manage key client and customer relationships. Likely to involve using account teams to maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Education

  • Master's Degree or Equivalent Level

Experience

  • General Experience: Experience level enables job holder to provide leadership to others regarding work related systems, processes and challenges (More than 15 years)
  • Managerial Experience: Experience of supervising and directing people and other resources to achieve specific end results within limited timeframes
