Job Summary And Requirements Park Interpreter – Tombstone Territorial Park Yukon Parks manages a system of parks and campgrounds around the Yukon. The primary destination park is the beautiful and scenic Tombstone Territorial Park on the Dempster Highway. We are offering an exciting opportunity for you to share your love of parks with the public and to enrich the experiences of visitors to Yukon Parks.

This is a seasonal position working May 4 to September 23, 2026. Park interpreters stay on-site at Tombstone for duration of scheduled shifts (8 days on, 6 days off). Basic on-site accommodations are provided. Travel to and from the park is the responsibility of the individual.

This role is responsible for the development and delivery of interpretive services that educate visitors about the park’s natural, cultural, and conservation values. By engaging diverse audiences, the position supports public awareness, stewardship, and high-quality visitor experiences.

Essential Qualifications To be considered for this opportunity, you must clearly demonstrate how you meet the following qualifications in your application. • Coursework or studies in environmental programs, interpretation or a related field;
• Experience delivering and/or planning interpretative programs;
• Experience in backcountry travel and navigation;
• Experience providing visitor services in a public facing environment, including responding to visitor inquiries and providing information.

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the above qualifications may be equally considered.

• KNOWLEDGE OF BACKCOUNTRY TRAVEL AND NAVIGATION: Demonstrates knowledge and practical skills in backcountry travel, route planning, wilderness safety, and navigation using maps, compass, and GPS technology.
• KNOWLEDGE OF PARK MANAGEMENT AND INTERPRETATION: Applies knowledge of park management principles, interpretation theory, and educational techniques to enhance visitor experiences and promote ethical stewardship.
• KNOWLEDGE OF TR’ONDËK HWËCH’IN HISTORY AND CULTURE: Demonstrates understanding and respect for the history, traditions, and cultural values of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in, incorporating this knowledge into interpretive programs and public interactions.
• KNOWLEDGE OF YUKON NATURAL ECOSYSTEMS: Demonstrates understanding of Yukon’s unique ecosystems, including local flora, fauna, and landscape.
