Bookkeeping & Payroll Specialist

Recruiting on behalf of one of our clients in Concord, a construction company. They are looking for a Bookkeeper & Payroll specialist.
They are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeping & Payroll Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, government remittances, and financial reporting. This role requires proficiency in Accpac Sage 300 and Paymate Acclaim Plus Payroll Software.
**Key Responsibilities:**Weekly Duties:
- Input employee timecard's into Paymate Acclaim Plus and process weekly payroll.
- Issue customer invoices, record payments and deposits, and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Enter vendor bills and process payments (printing cheques).
- Reconcile all banks monthly and identify and resolve discrepancies.
Monthly Duties:
- Prepare and submit payroll deductions (CPP, CPP2, EI, income tax) to CRA.
- File HST/GST returns and prepare Union Reports & payments.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure accurate coding of all entries.
- Generate and review Trial Balance from Sage 300 (Accpac) and prepare Balance Sheet and Income Statement monthly for review and year-end.
- Assist management with financial review and notes.
Quarterly/Annual Duties:
- Prepare and file T4s, T4 Summary (Tsum), and T5018 for subcontractors.
- Ensure all forms are submitted to CRA by the deadline.
- Complete and submit WSIB reports and remittances (monthly).
- Calculate and submit EHT (Employer Health Tax) filings (monthly).
- Close books, ensure all entries are posted, and support tax return preparation (corporate year-end).
- Prepare for tax filings, work with accountant for tax prep, review financial performance, and archive financial records.
Software Proficiency Required:
- Accpac Sage 300: Enter and post journal entries, manage AR/AP, GL, bank recs, and generate financial reports.
- Paymate Acclaim Plus Payroll Software: Process weekly payroll, generate ROEs, T4s, and payroll reports.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in bookkeeping and payroll management.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in Accpac Sage 300 and Paymate Acclaim Plus Payroll Software.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
