Lycopodium is currently recruiting for an Engineering Coordinator - Proposals to join our growing Engineering team in Mississauga, ON.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager the Engineering Coordinator - Proposals will be responsible for directing the multi-discipline engineering / drafting activities and inputs in alignment with proposal requirements, using Company approved systems and procedures. Responsibilities will include technical input, cost estimating, and resource allocation to successfully complete Proposals.

The tasks you'll perform

  • Participate in Bid/no-Bid review process and meetings and understand the bid strategy and win themes provided by others.
  • Participate in kick-off meetings, ongoing coordination and expediting related to multi-discipline engineering / drafting Proposal inputs.
  • Management of and responsibility for multi-discipline design and drafting resources assigned to provide Proposal inputs. Inputs include technical write-ups, man-hour estimates and resources estimating.
  • Preparation of man-hour budgets and design schedules to complete Study / EPCM estimates, in line with Proposal requirements.
  • Monitor the progress of the Proposal Engineering and Design team and provide feedback and support where necessary.
  • Coordination of Engineering / Drafting Proposal workflow and expediting close outs of internal man-hour estimate reviews for incorporation in the overall Proposal estimate.
  • Coordinate the Engineering / Drafting inputs for the scope of design deliverables in accordance with established project contracting strategies and design work methods.
  • Validate that the disciplines are providing adequate staffing, supervising personnel and managing to the approved budget, scope and schedule for all Proposal design related areas.
  • As an outcome of Proposal coordination meetings, assist in preparing actions lists and decision logs. Assist in closing actions as required.
  • Participate in senior management Proposal reviews.
  • Proactively support other team members as required to ensure Proposal deliverables are met.
  • Provide technical support and input to proposals, customer presentations, and other marketing, business development activities. Prepare design scope, budget and schedule for written proposals.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, documents, specifications and scopes of work, related to Request for Proposals (RFPs) / Requests for Quote (RFQs).
  • Identify scope variations and prepare relevant documentation accordingly.
  • Travel on an ad-hoc basis to suit the needs of the business and its operations.
  • Develop and contribute to benchmarking of completed projects, studies and previous proposals for reference.

The expertise you'll bring

  • University Degree in Engineering or the equivalent from a recognised institution.
  • Minimum 8+ years post graduate experience in engineering consultancy in engineering and / or project delivery roles
  • Experience in Mineral Processing or Metallurgical plant design.
  • Good business acumen and demonstrated success influencing stakeholders internally and clients alike.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Manage multiple tasks and prioritize where necessary to achieve agreed deliverables to a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Proactively seek and accept guidance and feedback provided by subject matter experts.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders, including clients, vendors and co-workers.
  • Ability to work with people at all levels within an organisation and external providers.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with colleagues across all business units, supervision whilst consistently producing a high quality of deliverables.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise to a high standard of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Solid technical aptitude, analytical, problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and commitment.
  • Demonstrate a strict practice of confidentiality, personal responsibility and discretion.
