We are responsible for the development of Packaging files across over 30 Owned Brands, across more than 100 product categories at Canadian Tire Retail. We're looking for innovative, forward-thinking individuals to join us in modernizing our packaging processes to better serve our customers and improve our operational efficiency.

The Product Development Process Modernization Lead will be a pioneering role within the Product Development and Packaging Operations Department, responsible for evaluating and modernizing the processes for our Product Development team. This individual will conduct thorough process mapping, identify inefficiencies, interview stakeholders, and make strategic recommendations to expedite and enhance our product development and packaging workflows.

The first project this candidate will lead is the modernization of the packaging workflow. The successful candidate will also champion stakeholder change management efforts and collaborate closely with key stakeholders to digitize and automate parts of the process using AI and other advanced technologies. Our goal is to reduce our time-to-market from where it is today by roughly half.

  • Process Evaluation & Mapping: Conduct comprehensive evaluations of current packaging processes, including interviewing cross-functional teams and working with external partners.
  • Inefficiency Identification: Identify pain points and inefficiencies within current workflows through stakeholder interviews, data analysis, and process observations.
  • Recommendations & Implementation: Develop actionable recommendations for process improvements, leveraging automation and digitization to expedite tasks.
  • Project Roadmap Development: Build and maintain a detailed project roadmap, outlining key milestones, timelines, and deliverables to ensure successful execution of process modernization initiatives.
  • Strategic Process Redesign: Drive and oversee new process initiatives, providing strategic direction and leadership to cross-functional teams.
  • Documentation & Analysis: Meticulously document findings from process tests, generating comprehensive reports that highlight key insights and outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Lead change management initiatives with stakeholders across various departments to ensure smooth adoption of new processes.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Prepare and deliver compelling presentations that convey project results and perspectives, influencing decision-makers and shaping the direction of process redesign efforts.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Senior Packaging Developer, Packaging Team, and external production art partners.
  • Technology Utilization: Utilize AI where appropriate to automate tasks and reduce redundancy within the packaging development process.
  • Reporting & Communication: Report regularly to the Packaging Manager on progress, challenges, and successes.
