This is a new opportunity for the FNHA to hear the voice of Youth and Elders throughout Northern Region.

Title: Community Engagement Coordinator, Elder and Youth

Salary: $66,597 - $83,246- $91,571 per year (pay range explained below)

Contract: Perm

Hours: 37.5 hours (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri)

Location: Northern Region, B.C. – Hybrid working may be an option in line with FNHA’s flex work policy.

About The Role The Community Engagement Coordinator, Youth and Elder (CECYE) will provide communication, collaboration, planning and engagement support to Youth and Elders from all 55 Northern BC First Nations communities. Focusing specifically on Youth and Elders, will develop and support local community engagement activities as part of a regional team. The CECYE will ensure that engagement functions and resources are effectively integrated, organized, leveraged and evaluated in a manner that meets strategic and operational needs within the Region. The CECYE will ensure that the activities align with FNHA vision, mission, and operations plans, ensuring effective collaboration with FNHA and community partners.

About You To be successful in this role you will have/be –

Education And Experience

  • A University degree with specialization in Engagement, Health Sciences, Education, Social Services, Youth and Elder Care or a related field, or an acceptable combination of education, training and professional experience.
  • Relevant, recent and significant experience in the provision of coordination support to First Nation communities (usually acquired over a 3–5-year period), or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Experience working with BC First Nations / Indigenous Peoples at a community and/or political level including in community engagement and community/organizational development.
  • Understanding and experience of traditional ceremonies and cultural practices.
  • Experience working and/or interacting with Youth, Elders and families.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of community engagement, provincial and federal health systems, and Indigenous / First Nations health systems.
  • Knowledge of social determinants of health and related issues affecting First Nations with a focus to Youth and Elders.
  • Knowledge of the BC First Nation political and governance landscape and the current community, Nation and Regional contexts.
  • Knowledge of program planning, implementation, management and evaluation
  • Knowledge of the rights of Youth and Elders as determined by First Nations law, DRIPA, UNDRIP, the Representative for Youth and Elders act and other relative legislation.
  • Enjoys and excels at working with Youth and Elders.
  • Has capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to develop and document work plans, including ongoing adaptation and reporting.

The Pay Range is the minimum and maximum annual salary based on full time equivalent hours.

Incumbents are typically hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the range based on their knowledge, skills, abilities and experience in relation to the role requirements.

The top 10% of the pay range is for the incumbents who are industry experts in the job with the combination of exceptional experience and competencies needed to perform all duties and responsibilities at a superior capability level. Internal employee compensation will be determined as per the FNHA Employee Total Compensation Policy.
