Senior Financial Analyst, ERP
About the role
Provide decision support, business and financial analysis expertise, and advice to WSIB management on activities related to the implementation of our cloud ERP system, ensuring its optimal performance and seamless integration with other software applications/tools.
Provide detailed level financial analysis and management reporting project management methodologies and previous ERP experience to assist WSIB in meeting its corporate objective of financial sustainability.
Major Responsibilities:
- Perform data scrubbing, integrity validation processes and analysis and prepare various financial and business activity reports to identify trends and project information such as the monthly/quarterly Financial Report to the Executive Committee, Audit & Finance Committee and Board of Directors. The quarterly Financial Report includes a year-end projection and identifies issues, trends, and actual vs. budget variances in order to assist senior management in making sound business decisions.
- Prepare the Benefit Payment Analysis Committee (BPAC) Supplementary Report analyzing benefit payment costs to support the BPAC members as well as the monthly Financial Report, forecasting and budgeting of benefit payments. This includes the collaboration with the BPAC Sub-Committee Leaders in determining cost and claim trends and reasons for differences from budget and historical results.
- Analyze premium revenues by industry sector and produce various monthly supporting schedules including analysis of insurable earnings, premium rate, employment and average wages by industry sector.
- Prepare monthly Financial Report requiring review, evaluation and analysis to identify trends, issues and provide variance explanations.
- Prepare supplementary schedules such as Funding Ratio and Sufficiency Ratio calculations to track progress on elimination of unfunded liability and legislative requirements.
- Liaise with related divisions to ensure timely receipt and accuracy of information.
- Forecast, budget and analysis of Premium Revenue, Investments, Experience Rating, Benefit Payments, Administrative Expenses and Balance Sheet items. In-depth knowledge and understanding is required to provide full disclosure to senior management and line managers on trends and variances to budget providing the necessary decision support.
- Actively participate in the annual budgeting process to prepare multi-year plan including management reports and Financial Budget presentations to Audit and Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
- Forecast of Premium Revenue, Investments, Experience Rating, Benefit Payments, Administrative Expenses and Balance Sheet items in order to generate forecasted opening balances for the multi-year plan Financial Statements.
- Co-ordinate and review various budget submissions including review, analysis and explanation of trends and variances.
- Proactively provide expertise and input to develop and improve upon concepts, models, systems and processes from an analytic perspective. Provide sound options and knowledge from previous ERP implementation projects that will facilitate better decision making and create greater value to internal customers.
- Forge, develop and maintain effective working relationships with the various divisions to ensure system integrator understands finance’s detailed data definitions, user requirements, and impacted business processes.
- Facilitate effective communication on requirements and resolve issues with senior management, line management, and associates is required.
- Ensure systems such as Khalix, PeopleSoft General Ledger, Mainframe Databases, and Ops and Measures access databases are accessible in order to data mine and develop the various trend analyses.
- Facilitate requirements gathering in relation to chart of accounts design and assess impacts on the design of the chart of accounts on any financial analytics.
- Provide business and financial analysis advice, recommendations and education financial and business analysis related issues or queries as it relates to ERP implementation
- Analysis of impacts of ERP and implications of expenditure commitments; post implementation financial analysis of initiatives and projects; methods/processes to improve cost reduction efforts; performance monitoring and forecasting processes.
- Participate as a member of business process re-engineering, performance measurement and business or systems improvement project teams related to the end-to-end ERP life cycle, with focus on financial analysis/analytics
- Identify project methodology and establish resources, deliverables and timelines.
- collaborate across cross functional teams to develop and produce new metrics and reports in order to measure progress and to support senior management decision making.
- Assist in the identification, development and recommendation of performance measures, indicators and outcomes to measure the effectiveness of ERP integration.

- Bachelor degree in business administration
- Professional designation
- (CMA, CGA, CA)
- Strong technical capabilities in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access; Khalix; PeopleSoft and Cognos.
- ERP implementation experience
- Project Management Experience, PMP Preferred
