About the role

Position Title: Commercial Real Estate (lending/borrowing) Law Clerk

Reporting To: Manager, Human Resources

Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Position Summary We are seeking for an experienced Commercial Real Estate Law Clerk with a minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be supporting lawyers with commercial lending transactions, performing tasks like preparing mortgage documents, coordinating with lenders, managing file closings.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Commercial purchases, sales, mortgages, refinancing, lending
  • Conduct title/off-title searches
  • Draft loan documents
  • Prepare title reports

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience of related experience specifically working on both the lending and borrowing sides.
  • Experience dealing with banks and private lenders would be an asset
  • Law Clerk Diploma required
  • Strong technical skills in Terraview, OnCorp, MS Word and Outlook
  • Strong multi-tasking skills, with the ability to manage conflicting priorities, while respecting tight deadlines
  • Possesses well developed verbal and written communication skills. Able to work with a variety of individuals providing quality service at all times
  • Operates with a high degree of accuracy and has strong attention to detail
  • Takes initiative and possesses well-developed organizational and time management skills
  • A team player, with the ability to build relationships and provide strong customer service
  • Ability to work independently, following instructions with minimal supervision
  • Possesses good judgment and responds well to constructive feedback.
  • Ability to discreetly handle highly confidential information
  • Willingness to learn workflow schemes and in-house processes
  • Familiarity working within a DMS system is an asset

  • Ability to be flexible with regards to hours during busy periods to meet the demands of the role
  • Discretion and confidentiality is essential to this role and required at all times
