Food & Resident Services Team Member

About the role

This position is full time and you will be working in our seniors supportive living building at 31 Smith Way, Antigonish, Nova Scotia . We are seeking a compassionate, energetic and caring team member to provide various services to the residents of the Maples. As a member of the team you could be working in one of our three departments - Food Services, Resident services or Hospitality. You will have an integral and valuable role in the day to day operations of the building. In this role, you will help our residents maintain a sense of independence and vitality by performing your responsibilities in a warm and caring manner.

You could be scheduled for shifts in any of the following three departments:

Food Services • Provide meal and beverage service to residents and guests to create a pleasant dining experience.

• Prepare the dining room for meal service with appropriate place settings, food and other supplies.

• Maintain the cleanliness of the dining room and kitchen area and equipment.

• Load dishwasher and remove dishes when cleaned.

• Assist with food preparation and storage of food and kitchen supplies.

Resident Services • Provide customized housekeeping and laundry service for residents.

• Communicate with Management if there is a noted change in the health status of the resident e.g. appears confused.

• Assist in completing and updating appropriate records and forms in relation to each resident, housekeeping and laundry routines.

• Assist in the process of orientation for each new resident to all services as required e.g. Laundry equipment on the floors).

• Provide care services to residents as directed in the individual service plan such as medication administration, bathing, vital sign checks etc. These services would be provided under the direction and supervision of the Director of Care with appropriate training provided.

Hospitality Services • Provide coverage at the front reception desk - answering phones and providing messages, receiving and directing mail, greeting and managing all visitors, responding to inquiries etc.

• Respond to resident concerns and ensure appropriate action is taken within decision-making authority and bring any concerns to management.

Requirements • A focus on the well being of the residents and guests.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

• Ability to work a schedule of flexible hours/shifts inclusive of day, evenings, weekends and holidays and nights.

• Good personal hygiene and neatness.

• Food safety handlers certification (training can be provided)

• Current CPR & First Aid Certificate (training can be provided)

• Food service experience and/or previous experience working with seniors
