Job Description:

Note: This is for 1 Regular Full-Time temporary vacancy until July 7, 2027. This position is a daily on campus in-person work schedule. This position is deemed a critical replacement vacancy.

Why this Role is Important

Under the supervision of the Manager, Creative Services and in conjunction with Reputation and Brand Management and Corporate Communications staff, the incumbent will lead the development and execution of a variety of creative solutions through graphic design, motion graphics, videography & photography to strengthen the brand identity in print and digital forms for promotional, recruitment, marketing and event purposes.

How You’ll Make an Impact

Graphic Design

  • Analyzes client needs to create and produce print, video and animated content that conveys the Fanshawe brands’ voice and message:

    • Designs, produces and edits professional quality print & digital materials
    • Creates storyboards and executes on them
    • Develops motion graphics and animations
    • Creates, edits and sources images for ads, creative assets, social media, and website
    • Produces, coordinates and project manage video development
    • Assembles optimized final output files in print and media formats
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams and internal clients on corporate, brand and product marketing:

    • Researches, develops, and executes on creative concepts that are aligned to the brief and the established brand style guidelines
    • Understands AODA requirements as they apply to print and video design, including the creation of accessible PDF documents
    • Takes creative feedback and adapts projects accordingly
    • Finalizes creative look & feel of concepts and adapts to necessary formats: event materials, advertising (digital/print), website, and more
  • Articulates design decisions based on the goals of the project, the established design strategy, and knowledge of design theory.

  • Provides advice, direction and reviews the workflow of work-study students

Reputation & Brand Management Support Functions

Provides technical support for the Reputation & Brand Management department as needed:

  • Troubleshoots and researches ways to creatively capture marketing ideas - keeping up to date with emerging trends and technology
  • Provides internal clients with professional guidance and expertise in print and multi-media
  • Interacts with internal clients, external vendors and RBM to provide professional guidance and assistance
  • Attends meetings individually and actively participates in giving presentations
  • Provides job/print costing requirements as needed
  • Provides livestreaming & webinar support for various corporate events as needed
  • Provides feedback and art direction to clients to reorient off-brand materials
  • Maintains YouTube channel for video content, creates and organizes playlists, uploads and provides links for the website and portal
  • Maintains and organizes creative asset storage (ie. photographs, b-roll, logos, etc.) following documented processes to increase productivity for the department and allow for organized access for the College community
  • Works with Manager, Creative Services on project details and scheduling, quickly identifying when process is broken and takes immediate steps to inform, communicate and reset with the Manager’s support
  • Acts as backup for project intake process & creative queue

Event Support

Provides assistance with event preparation, set-up, dismantling, and overall support during special events and recruitment functions.

What You'll Bring

  • Post-secondary 3 year diploma/degree or equivalent in an Advanced Diploma in Graphic Design
  • Minimum 5 years of related work experience in a combination of graphic design, motion graphics, photo and /or video production
  • Advanced understanding of design tools and platforms, including Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects and Premiere, with aptitude to learn new software and programs expertly and effectively
  • Keen eye for design and excellent understanding of design principles
  • In-house creative experience is an asset
  • Must have a strong understanding of designing artwork for multiple platforms and uses (i.e. traditional print, outdoor advertising, mobile and the web)
  • Strong knowledge of and experience using a DSLR Camera to take still photos and shoot video
  • Expert knowledge of mobile photography and videography
  • Experience with lighting, audio recording and production in the field and studio is an asset
  • Strong asset management and organizational skills including ability to tag, reference, organize and archive assets
  • Comprehensive awareness of current and emerging design, social media, and technology trends
  • Tech-savvy and a passion for all things multimedia from hardware (cameras, lights, etc.) to software
  • Excellent communication, organizational, team building, interpersonal and leadership skills
