This is a key leadership role where you will spearhead the development and execution of innovative strategies to support our company’s growth and success.

As the Manager, Strategy & Business Planning, you will lead corporate strategic planning, business case development, and performance tracking. You will play a critical role in supporting executive decision-making, ensuring alignment between strategy and execution, and providing hands-on leadership for select strategic initiatives. This role is both a strategic advisor and a builder, helping BC Ferries navigate complex challenges and seize new opportunities.

The Role Reporting to the Executive Director, Strategy, Performance & Planning, your key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the corporate strategic planning process, including environmental assessments, opportunity identification, and executive workshops;
  • Partnering with business and finance leaders to translate ideas into fully-costed and benefit-tested business cases;
  • Overseeing corporate performance tracking, including scorecard maintenance and benefits realization from strategic initiatives;
  • Maintaining status tracking and oversight of strategic imperative execution, including both director-support and hands on leadership and execution of select strategic initiatives, as required;
  • Conducting business analyses across financial, operational, and organizational dimensions; and
  • Providing mentorship and leadership to a small team, fostering collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.

What You Bring To The Team

  • Bachelor's Degree in any of Science, Engineering, Information Sciences and/or Business
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration is an asset
  • Experience in finance, including associated certifications e.g. CPA is an asset
  • 10+ years of experience working in a mid-to-large sized corporate environment
  • 3-5 years of experience supporting strategy development and/or strategic initiative implementations and/or 3-5 years of experience leading business planning functions (e.g. headcount planning, financial analyses, scorecards and KPIs, etc.) at a business unit or enterprise level
  • People leadership experience, including leading project or permanent teams of 3-5+ people
  • Experience leading customer-facing operations, or customer experience functions is an asset
  • Experience in investment and project planning is an asset
  • Experience working in a management consulting or equivalent environment is an asset
  • Ability to operate independently and with confidence
  • Innovative and detail oriented
  • Supportive leader, with experience mentoring team members and creating high-performing, highly engaged teams
