Scope
The Engineering department is looking to add a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System Operator 2 (SCADA Operator) to its team. Under the general direction of the Pumps and Controls Manager, this position will operate a real time computer system used in the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA) for the water, sewer and drainage systems of the City. Coordinating System changes and upgrades, Operations and Maintenance crews and producing alarm and data reports as required.
Responsibilities
Duties described below are generally representative of the position and include, but not limited to, the following:
The SRSOII will be responsible for the overall operation of the SCADA system.
Effects changes in the system’s operation parameters as required, maintains the database (adding or modify points as required), produces report, and handles data ( both current and historical), as required for regular operations and trends analysis.
Responds to requests for data.
Monitors the system and requests allocation of crews, as required by the system conditions.
Monitors the SCADA system computer utilization and maintains optimal performance of the system.
Resolves technical problems related to the SCADA system or redirects to the appropriate support process.
Interacts, manually or electronically as required, with the Maintenance Management System.
Follows general safety policies, procedures and practices.
Coordinates system upgrading (i.e. - software/program modifications, hardware upgrades, remote operation of the sewage, water and drainage stations).
Provides supervision and training for SCADA Operator I.
Provides training to operations staff as required.
Other job related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Technology diploma/degree in Telecommunications and Electronics. Relevant experience in similar positions/systems. Will remain current with relevant technological changes to effectively operate the SCADA System. Valid BC driver’s license with a safe driving record.
