Advanced Construction Techniques (ACT) is a leading specialty contractor delivering innovative geotechnical construction solutions across North America. We are seeking an experienced, senior-level Senior Project Engineer with 10+ years of engineering or construction experience to take a leadership role in the delivery of complex, high-impact infrastructure projects.
This opportunity is suited to a proven field-oriented engineering professional who is ready to lead challenging work, make practical decisions in real time, and contribute to the successful execution of technically demanding projects across Canada and the United States.
As a Senior Project Engineer, you'll play a key role in planning, coordinating, and delivering specialized geotechnical construction projects including dams, levees, seepage cutoff systems, foundations, and other critical infrastructure projects. You'll work closely with project managers, engineers, clients, subcontractors, and field crews, while bringing the judgment, technical maturity, and leadership expected of a senior professional.
Approximately 75% of your time will be spent on active project sites, with the remainder based out of our head office in King, Ontario.

What You'll Do
Lead and coordinate the planning and execution of geotechnical construction projects. Provide senior-level oversight of field operations, including daily reporting, documentation, productivity tracking, and issue resolution. Monitor and manage project schedules, production, equipment utilization, and material consumption. Prepare and maintain project documentation, drawings, specifications, and records. Coordinate effectively with project management, field crews, suppliers, subcontractors, consultants, and clients. Lead or actively contribute to project meetings and communicate clear, practical progress updates to internal and external stakeholders. Support budgeting, cost tracking, change management, and project closeout activities. Use sound engineering judgment to investigate and resolve technical and operational challenges in the field. Manage and perform quality control inspections and testing. Operate borehole camera systems, survey equipment, and ACT's proprietary monitoring systems. Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
General Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited or recognized institution. International credentials will be considered. Minimum 10 years of progressive engineering, construction, or project delivery experience, preferably in heavy civil, geotechnical, infrastructure, or specialty contracting environments. Demonstrated ability to take ownership of field execution, coordinate multiple project stakeholders, and make practical decisions in a construction environment. Experience mentoring, guiding, or providing direction to junior engineers, coordinators, or field staff is considered an asset. Geotechnical construction experience is considered an asset. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to thrive in both field and office environments. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Experience with construction management, scheduling, or project management software is an asset. Ability to safely access all parts of an industrial or construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments. Valid Class G driver's license with a driving record that meets our corporate auto insurance requirements. Legally authorized to work in Canada for any employer. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position. Eligible to travel to the United States for work assignments, subject to applicable legal and border-entry requirements.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000 per year - Salary will be commensurate with senior-level experience, qualifications, technical capability, leadership contribution, and demonstrated project delivery experience.

Our primary focus is multifaceted Geotechnical construction projects involving underground seepage mitigation and structure settlement control. These projects require innovative solutions utilizing highly specialized techniques and necessitate strong engineering, quality control and assurance, cost management control and best value.
