Job Title: Microsoft Purview Engineer- Data Governance Specialist Location: Montreal, QC Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 Days WFO/ Week) Employment Type: Contract Duration: 12 months Pay Rate: CAD 63-65/hour Incorporated Application Deadline: July 20th, 2026
SKILLS REQUIRED Implement, configure, and manage Microsoft Purview to support enterprise-wide data governance, data discovery, classification, compliance, and risk management across Microsoft 365, Azure, and hybrid environments. Configure and maintain Microsoft Purview Data Catalog, including metadata management, business glossary, data lineage, and automated scanning for Azure, on-premises, and SaaS data sources. Design and manage Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) features such as Sensitivity Labels, Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies, Information Governance, eDiscovery, Audit, and Insider Risk Management. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards including GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, and SOX, while monitoring compliance posture through the Purview Compliance Portal. Integrate Microsoft Purview with Azure AD, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, and Power Platform, and automate governance processes using PowerShell and Microsoft Graph API. Monitor data scans, classification accuracy, policy enforcement, and generate governance and compliance reports while documenting standards, processes, and best practices. Collaborate with Security, Legal, and Compliance teams to support investigations, records management, retention policies, and provide L2/L3 production support for Microsoft Purview solutions. SC-400, SC-300, or SC-100 certifications and experience with large regulated enterprises are highly preferred.
