Job Description We’re looking for a Junior Electrical Technologist to join our growing engineering team at Fleetway. This is a unique opportunity to contribute directly to Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy, supporting the Royal Canadian Navy through the design, integration, and delivery of advanced electrical systems that power some of the most complex vessels in the fleet.
As a Junior Electrical Technologist, you’ll gain hands-on experience working alongside industry experts, including engineers, technologists, and designers who are leaders in Canada’s marine defence sector. You will support real-world electrical design activities such as developing technical drawings and specifications, performing load calculations and cable sizing, and contributing to systems integration work that directly impacts the Navy’s operational readiness.

Responsibilities

Assist in preparing technical studies, electrical drawings, and system specifications

Contribute to reports, including equipment evaluation and selection recommendations

Incorporate Engineering Changes into existing designs and documentation
-
Support systems integration tasks and collaborate with project teams to ensure compatibility across components

Perform entry-level electrical calculations including:
-
Load calculations
-
Voltage drop
-
Protective device selection and coordination
-
Cable sizing
-
Support penetration and cable management planning, routing, and documentation

Maintain organized design files and ensure work aligns with project requirements and applicable standards
Qualifications Education
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology (or related discipline)
Experience
- 0+ years of experience; new graduates are encouraged to apply
- Understanding of basic electrical theory and principles
- Experience with ETAP and/or cable management systems through coursework, project work, or co-op considered an asset
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents considered an asset
