CST Coal located at Highway 40 North, Grande Cache, AB has need for Certified Heavy Duty Mechanics.
Duties
- Perform planned and breakdown maintenance/repairs/installations to mobile and ancillary equipment in an open-pit mining facility.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical/electrical problems and conduct work within planned time frames without compromising the integrity of any equipment or facility.
- Enter reports on maintenance, repairs, and diagnoses into the maintenance database prior to the end of each shift, providing sufficient detail for others to understand the work that has been completed.
- Keep work areas clean and free of safety hazards on a continuous basis.
- Contribute to safety and productivity by constructively participating in safety meetings, and incident investigations.
- Types of Equipment are, but not limited to Shovels (hydraulic/electric) Haul Trucks, Dozers, Graders, Loaders, Fuel Trucks.
Education Requirements
- Canadian interprovincial Red Seal Certificate of Qualification or a Provincial Certificate of Qualification as heavy-duty mechanic or be eligible to challenge the Canadian Journeyman examination.
Experience
- Must have recent and previous mining experience.
- Maintenance and repair experience on all or some of the following: P&H 2800, Hitachi EX3600 and EX5500 shovel, Atlas Copco Drills, Komatsu 830E's, CAT D11's, D10's, 777's,or related mining equipment will be required OR similar equipment. CST coal will decide what equipment is similar. The experience is on large open pit mining equipment.
Wages and Benefits
- No camp available, you are be required to hold residence, on some level, in the town of Grande Cache for the duration of your work rotation.
- 7 and 7, 12 hour day /night rotation.
- Hourly employees, required to sign on for membership with the United Mine workers of America (UMWA) for a onetime initiation fee, and month dues.
- $52.13 per hour.
- $1.10 per hour night shift premium.
- $600 per year for boot/clothing allowance. ($23.00 bi weekly taxable, benefit)
- $1500 per year tool allowance ($57.70 bi-weekly, taxable benefit)
- $600.00 per month Trades Allowance ($300.00 bi weekly, taxable benefit)
- $500.00 per month Living Allowance ($250.00 bi weekly, taxable benefit)
- $500.00 yearly Fitness Allowance
- Medical benefits on the 1st of the month following your start date.
- 8% RSP Match program.
Work Environment
The incumbent works at the CST Coal Mine Site facility on a 7 day on, 7 day off shift rotation. Overtime and being on stand-by or ready for call-outs will be required due to the nature of the work. He/she is working outdoors 90% of the time and is exposed to loud, continuous noise levels that require hearing protection. Working around moving equipment and machinery is a regular occurrence. As a condition of employment, the incumbent is required to comply with pre and post employment drug and alcohol testing as per the Company Drug and Alcohol Policy. As required, personal protective equipment will include the use of an approved hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots, hearing protection, CSA approved respiratory protection, protective clothing and gloves.
