About the role

Cambrian is currently seeking an IT Business Analyst to join our team. The IT Business Analyst is accountable for analytics and leading the continual discovery and improvement of processes through a collaborative effort with stakeholders. The position works closely with branches and departments to establish project objectives that align with corporate goals and objectives. The IT BA facilitates those improvements in coordination with available resources and timelines within the IT department, working closely with the development and quality assurance teams.

As an IT Business Analyst, you will:

  • Work closely with various departments, branches and levels of the organization to optimize business processes, think innovatively and take advantage of application functionality to improve departmental and cross-departmental functions to meet organizational goals.
  • Gather critical information from meetings with various stakeholders and produce strong requirements and thorough documentation.
  • Prepare comprehensive project documentation to define processes, decisions and technical details throughout the life cycle of the project. Employ various tools to support clear and concise documentation.
  • Prioritize work based on business needs and strategic objectives and serve as a liaison between stakeholders and the development team. Manage competing resources and priorities to effectively meet project goals.
  • Participate in testing activities to ensure the developed solutions meet the expectations/requirements of the involved business unit(s) and members.
  • Understand and manage the scope of complexity that exists across business value, technology, and interaction models.
  • Lead ongoing reviews of business processes to develop optimization strategies and recommend approaches to streamline and integrate technological processes in the organization to improve overall efficiency. Provide guidance to Dev and QA teams to ensure the team is aligned on project goals.
  • Stay up to date on the latest processes and IT advancements to automate and modernize systems and incorporate IT knowledge when considering improvements or recommendations.

We are looking for:

  • Minimum education level of Grade 12 or equivalent, with post-secondary education preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of business analysis experience
  • Previous experience in the financial services industry considered an asset
  • Knowledge of technology structures: networks, database, communications, internet
  • Ability to deliver high quality, thoroughly tested software that meets programming standards
  • Ability to work within a prescribed development process (Agile, SCRUM)
  • Creative thinker/ problem solver, with a member-centered approach and strong drive to continuously improve and add value to the business
  • Ability to work well in an environment with multiple and often changing priorities
