POSITION TYPE: Full-Time Position Available

SALARY: $46,966 - $66,206 per annum

POSITION LOCATION: Notre Dame Campus (Winnipeg, MB)

DUTIES
Reporting to the Manager of Safety and Health Services, the Safety and Health Technician provides support to the Safety and Health Officers to ensure RRC Polytech is in compliance with Workplace Safety and Health Legislation and RRC Polytech's Safety Management System. The Safety and Health Technician will be the lead respirator fit-tester for the department and will be engaged in activities such as booking and coordinating the fit-testing schedule. The incumbent will be responsible for setting up and taking down industrial hygiene monitoring equipment and develop draft reports for the Safety and Health Officers. This position will be responsible for data management for programs such as Safe Work Procedures and Safety Data Sheets as well as running reports and assisting in the development of various risk mitigation plans.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Certificate. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Several years of related experience working in safety and health
  • Experience with a Respiratory Protection Program
  • Experience with using Industrial Hygiene Equipment
  • Knowledge of OHS related issues including risk identification and workplace safety and health legislation and standards
  • Efficient interpersonal skills, including the ability to foster relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate accurate safety and health information verbally and in writing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Software
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi task within a fast paced environment
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current First Aid certificate
