Job Summary:
Central 1 is looking for a Senior Investigator, AML/ATF Compliance, to help strengthen and support its anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing programs. In this role, you will play a critical part in protecting the organization by leading complex investigations, assessing risk, and supporting compliance initiatives across Central 1’s payment and wire programs.
You will help maintain a strong and effective compliance program while providing exceptional support to internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings strong investigative expertise, sound judgment, collaboration skills, and the ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
What you'll be doing:
- Investigate and analyze higher-risk AML/ATF cases, identify situations requiring escalation or reporting to FINTRAC, and prepare Suspicious Transaction Reports when needed.
- Support the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the AML/ATF transaction monitoring program, including related procedures and processes.
- Stay current on AML/ATF and sanctions regulations, industry trends, and best practices.
- Support the Three Lines of Defense (LOD) model through day-to-day compliance activities.
- Work collaboratively with the team to support an effective transaction monitoring program, including Enhanced Due Diligence activities, suspicious transaction reporting, client risk assessments, process improvements, and risk mitigation initiatives.
- Help ensure all regulatory reporting requirements are completed accurately, compliantly, and within required timelines.
- Maintain accurate records of compliance and internal control activities, and provide reporting updates to senior management as required.
- Support the development and implementation of operational policies, processes, systems, and best practices.
- Foster a collaborative and positive team environment built on trust, open communication, and continuous improvement.
- Support change management initiatives and contribute to improving operational effectiveness and results.
What you'll have:
- University degree or college diploma, plus at least 2 years of experience in criminology, law, fraud investigations, AML, or a related field.
- CAMS certification (or similar designation), or willingness to obtain it within one year of hire.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in financial crimes or AML/ATF compliance.
- Strong understanding of AML/ATF regulations and FINTRAC requirements.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify risks and trends through data analysis.
- Knowledge of investigative techniques, analysis tools, and risk assessment practices.
- Ability to make sound, informed decisions based on analysis and findings.
- Experience using AML/ATF monitoring or transaction monitoring systems is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to develop and present new ideas, solutions, and process improvements.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities.
- Strong client service mindset and ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
- Able to work independently while also contributing as a collaborative team player.
- Excellent time management, prioritization, and multitasking skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
Salary range: $70,000-$75,000
The salary represents the job rate determined for the successful candidate who is fully competent in the role. The actual salary will vary depending on market conditions and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
