About the role

Overview

Brandt is currently looking for a Field Service Technician for our Lethbridge location (Material Handling Division). The Service Technician is responsible for independently performing basic to complex diagnostics, service maintenance and repair work on customer and/or dealer owned material handling equipment such as forklifts, mobile elevating work platforms, and telehandlers efficiently. They are also responsible for providing quality service to customers and ensuring all issues are resolved satisfactorily and in a timely manner.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Financial Performance:

  • Operate within budgets and approvals established by the Service Manager.

  • Maintain high levels of productivity, efficiency, and gross margin to contribute positively to branch goals.

  • Achieve and uphold a quality of work metric of 98%, ensuring work is completed correctly the first time to minimize rework and enhance customer satisfaction.

  • Diagnostic and Repair Services:

  • Perform basic to complex diagnostics on power equipment to accurately identify repair needs and minimize downtime.

  • Diagnose, disassemble, assemble, and repair mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems to restore optimal equipment performance.

  • Conduct customer, manufacturer, and government-mandated inspections to ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks such as fluid and filter changes, battery testing, brake system adjustments, and lubrication to prolong equipment life.

  • Execute advanced mechanical repairs, including engine and transmission diagnosis, repair, or replacement, to resolve complex issues.

  • Work Systems and Procedures:

  • Maintain current product knowledge specific to equipment and industry standards relevant to the branch location.

  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area to ensure efficiency and safety.

  • Follow all safety rules and Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) standards.

  • Ensure compliance with proper procedures for hazardous waste disposal.

  • Work within guidelines set by managers to ensure consistent and quality service delivery.

  • Perform all service tasks assigned by the Service Manager or Service Department Foreman.

  • Participate in required training programs, including industry-specific technology training.

  • Maintain and care for departmental tools, equipment, and vehicles.

  • Mentor and oversee apprentices to support their professional growth.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to operate Forklift.

  • Trade qualification (Heavy Equipment, Agriculture, Truck/Transport, Automotive) considered as asset.

  • 3 years’ relevant experience.

  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

  • Possess computer and technical aptitude and knowledge for diagnostics and calibration work.

  • Possess diagnostic skills to understand mechanical and technical equipment repair needs.

  • Possess strong time management skills to perform under pressure.

  • Possess strong communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Possess a commitment to high quality customer service.
