About the role

Position Summary This position will work cross-functionally with our Customers, Supply Chain, Logistics, and Brokerage service providers and various Gates internal and external departments to optimize our Customs compliance and to reduce costs and improve quality.   Report to the Materials Manager. Has authority to expedite, charge back suppliers for premium freight and make decisions concerning supplier delivery. Planner is responsible for reducing transportation costs when possible and preparing a design to support inventory reduction.     Essential Duties and Responsibilities 30% - Procure and plan materials in line with an MRP system 35% - Generate and send supplier releases.  The role will Monitor and maintain inventory levels to support production.  Follow up and track           all past due items. 10% - Expedite supplier shortages as required.  Report out shortage information in a production meeting environment. 10% - Share data with relevant internal departments and external suppliers. 5% -   Manage ECN changes to avoid obsolescence 10% - Gather, analyze and validate data to support JIT environment.Supervisory Responsibilities

Functions as an individual contributor with no supervisory responsibilities

Qualifications Four-year College degree in Business Administration or related field or equivalent experience including at least 5 years material control/purchasing experience.  Education in Inventory Management and MRP experience is an asset. Purchasing /Inventory and production management course preferred (PMAC)(CPIM). Required Skills Knowledge of supply chain operation Knowledge of BOM’s. Good organizational skills and communication skills needed for internal and external correspondence, as well as attention to detail and accuracy with figures. Excellent telephone skills needed for external communication. Excellent typing skills and must be able to use a computer with confidence. Experience in partnering with business leaders on developing and driving global initiatives. High Level interpersonal skills; must be able to influence and coach across multiple levels within the company. Demonstrated business acumen Strong proficiency with Microsoft and other ERP systems, such as CMS Epicore.

   Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
