Job Description:
Position Purpose:
The Senior Business Analyst supports the planning, design, development, and implementation of efficient business, financial, and operational systems. They gather and analyze user requirements, develop business cases, and create detailed reports that identify system issues and propose solutions. Through strong communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills, they help ensure technology solutions meet organizational needs.
In The Salvation Army in Canada, this role strengthens operational effectiveness and maximizes the value of IT investments, ultimately supporting the organization’s mission and service delivery.
This is a temporary, fixed-term 9 month contract position.
Key Accountabilities:
- Engage with decision makers, system owners, and end users to define business, financial, and operational requirements.
- Conduct interviews, workshops, site visits, and workflow analyses to gather and clarify user needs.
- Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders across and outside of IT to support collaborative solution development.
- Prioritize system and business requirements in partnership with stakeholders and project teams.
- Review business requirements and functional specifications through peer assessments to ensure accuracy and alignment.
- Co‑lead design and prototyping sessions with Business Process Engineers to improve processes and information flow.
- Create system models, specifications, and diagrams to translate user requirements into viable solution options.
- Manage requirement statuses throughout the project lifecycle while supporting testing, solution evaluation, and continuous improvements to requirements‑gathering processes.
Education and Experience****Qualifications:
- A university degree in computer science, computer engineering, commerce, or business administration or an approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience providing project implementation and support for large Enterprise ERP implementations. (Workday specifically)
- Practical knowledge of web‑based solution development, including system interfaces to vendor and Cloud‑based platforms.
- Experience conducting requirements analysis, preparing system design proposals, and performing cost/benefit and solution testing activities.
- Background in overseeing the functional and technical implementation of web‑based software and hardware solutions.
- Technical proficiency in .NET, modern programming languages, and relational database design using Microsoft SQL Server.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with clients, end users, and IT teams while managing expectations and building strong relationships.
- Proven experience supporting digital transformation initiatives involving SaaS or PaaS environments and database operations.
- Strong communication, negotiation, project management, and organizational skills, with the ability to present complex concepts to diverse audiences.
- Ability to adapt in changing environments, work independently, manage multiple priorities, and contribute collaboratively toward organizational goals; non‑profit experience an asset.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $100,390.71 to $125,488.38 with a maximum of $150,586.06.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
