About the role
Atco Fire Prevention Services is a multi-discipline fire and life safety company providing installation, inspection, testing, maintenance and repair services to all types of systems, including but not limited to sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, various special hazard and chemical suppression systems, portable fire extinguishers and emergency lighting. We operate throughout Alberta, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut, with branches in Calgary, AB. Leduc, AB. and Yellowknife, NT. Regular Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Performing inspections, testing, and maintenance on sprinkler systems, and related fire protection equipment, in accordance with applicable NFPA standards
- Completing accurate and thorough inspection reports in a timely manner, including compiling detailed notes related to potential deficiency repairs
- Correcting deficiencies found on sprinkler systems, and related fire protection equipment, in accordance with applicable NFPA standards
- Performing duties in a professional, efficient, and safe manner
- Communicating effectively with managers and team members to efficiently facilitate the completion and smooth transition between jobs and various other tasks
- Keeping assigned fleet vehicle tidy and well stocked with material for jobs
- Responding to after hours emergency calls on a scheduled rotation
Additional Duties and Responsibilities May Include:
- Ordering and picking up material
- Travelling out of town to complete jobs when required
- Assisting with completing jobs outside of the scope of sprinkler system work under the supervision and guidance of certified team members when directed
- Potential opportunities to become cross-certified in related aspects of the fire protection industry
A successful candidate must have:
- Red seal journeyman certificate in the Sprinkler System Installer trade
- Experience as a journeyman in the inspection and service aspect of the trade, including but not limited to correcting deficiencies, and trouble shooting
- Class 5 drivers license with a clean drivers abstract
- Clean criminal record check
- The flexibility to, on occasion, accommodate different scheduling requirements and work outside of regular business hours
- The ability to work in physically demanding environments, including but not limited to ladder work, climbing stairs, kneeling, lifting, and working at or above shoulder height
Considered an asset but not required:
- Cross-connection control testers certificate
- Completion of one or more CFAA modules
- Field experience with fire alarm systems
- Fire Extinguisher certification
- First Aid training
- Arial work platform certificate
- Fall arrest certificate
