Technician, Payroll (21 months contract)
About the role
##Job Summary
As a member of the payroll team, the payroll technician participates in all activities related to payroll processing according to established schedules.
##Key Accountabilities
- Answer e-mails and telephone calls from employees, managers and business partners within established service levels.
- Process salary increases, bonus payments and bonuses.
- Calculate, validate and process retroactive or special payments.
- Process employee termination payments and deductions.
- Process alimony payments and seizures and follow up with the various parties involved.
- Carry out various validations to ensure the integrity of payroll data.
- Produce employee payrolls according to deadlines while respecting the established process.
- Follow up on bank rejections and correct files.
- Produce off-cycle payments.
- Perform various analyses and produce various reports.
- Calculate, validate and remit deductions at source, alimony and third-party seizures.
- In the event of overpayments, contact employees to negotiate and recommend a repayment plan.
- Issue records of employment.
- Fill out information requests.
- Analyze and solve customer problems and coordinate their resolution.
- Actively participate in the improvement and documentation of processes.
##Job Requirements
- Diploma of college studies or diploma of vocational studies
- A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience
- PCP certification from the National Payroll Institute
- Knowledge of SAP HR/Payroll and Dimensions (UKG), an asset
- Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to prioritize, excellent time management and planning skills.
- Ability to identify, analyze and find appropriate solutions to problems.
- Detail-oriented, rigorous and customer service-oriented
- Teamwork skills
- Ability to respect confidentiality.
- Good knowledge of Canadian payroll practises and legislation
- Good knowledge of Excel and ability to work with computers.
