##Group Summary:

The Mechatronics, Mirrors and Lighting group specializes in automotive technologies that are driving the future of mobility. Combining a deep systems knowledge to develop unique vehicle access experiences, intelligent visions systems and advanced automotive lighting technologies, MML's expertise light the path to innovation, safety and styling.

Job Responsibilities:

Compensation Range: $95,000 to $110,000

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support developing equipment standards and verification that sourced equipment meets established standards to include follow-up for assembly.
  • Supporting Equipment/Manufacturing Reviews (Internal and Executive Reviews) with cross functional team with defined expectations and secures buy-off from internal customers on assembly strategy/processes.
  • Participation in a Product development team from inception to manufacturing launch.
  • Evaluate new processing methods technology for application purposes against new business opportunities.
  • Support make verses buy equipment decisions; assist in resolving supplier technical issues arising from deviation requests, design ambiguities and producibility.
  • Participate in developing tooling standards and verification that sourced tooling meets established standards to include tool follow-up for moulding and coatings.
  • Creation of Manufacturing flow charts and equipment capacity studies for all processes.
  • Support for new Program Capital Expenditures to include equipment / tooling / infrastructure.
  • Regular communications with program team as it relates to new program awards and status.
  • Support Sales initiatives to further develop Customer relationships and seek new business.
  • Develop working knowledge of project information and project interdependencies in order to make informed decisions.
  • Meet your commitments ;confront and elevate issues timely
  • Assist in dimensional verification of components and finished product.
  • Support pre-production activities with Operations to ensure assembly builds are carried out to meet program deliverables.
  • Manage the component supply/inventory and product integrity of builds.
  • Participate in corrective actions for Customer complaints
  • Develop and update Process Failure Mode Effect and Analysis (PFMEA) and drive Risk Priority Number (RPN) reduction
  • Update manufacturing standards; Incorporating lessons learned; Initial operation Instructions Sheets (SOS/JES) and Preventative Maintenance (PM) plans
  • Review and analysis of data from Capability Studies
  • Print Tolerancing and GD&T.
  • Fully support the operations group with respect to achieving their safety, quality and cost goals.
  • Support operations in all areas including molding, coating and assembly.
  • Support all MPS initiatives as required including: 5S, CAGYS and Kaizen events.
  • Improve equipment and processes to achieve target production rates at a first pass yield rate of 100%.
  • Work on reducing equipment downtime to improve overall equipment efficiency (OEE).

Facilitate continuous improvement activities.

  • Support and execute customer requirements, including but not limited to, engineering changes and quality initiatives from start of production through the entire life cycle of the product.
  • Responsible for post launch engineering changes to equipment and tooling.
  • Make continuous equipment and process improvements through the life of the program, including scrap reduction, labor reduction, cycle time reduction and other cost reductions
  • Manage the engineering change process for required changes.
  • Support all Management initiatives and programs.
  • Complete all projects and assigned tasks on time.
  • Manage all required paperwork and complete it on time.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required to support company initiatives, including international travel.
  • Willingness and ability to take on tasks outside of responsibility set when required.
  • Support of operations will occasionally be required on the off shifts and on weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma or Degree in Engineering required
  • Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience in an engineering role preferred;
  • Valid Driver's license and ability to travel between plants required;

  • Understanding of Processes: injection molding, spray coating, vacuum metallization, assembly.
  • Understanding of Equipment: injection molding machines, robotic spray paint systems, vacuum metallizers, assembly robots, sonic welding, hot plate welding, vibration welding, adhesive dispense systems, screw bowl feeders, pneumatic and DC drivers, plasma treat systems, laser engravers, vision systems.
  • Understanding of DFM - design for manufacture.
  • Understanding of PFMEA - Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis. Demonstrated ability to reduce RPNs.
  • Tooling knowledge: injection molding, coating, assembly.
  • Understanding of Automotive quality systems.
  • Strong understanding of APQP, SPC, PPAP, Process Flows, Control Plans, Root Cause Analysis and Problem Solving Tools (such as Six Sigma and Red X).
  • Understanding of Equipment and tooling procurement
  • Familiar with Lean Manufacturing
  • Knowledge of automotive customer specific requirements.
  • Reading and interpreting drawings including understanding tolerancing and GD&T.
  • Proven ability to create and execute project plans that have achieved the identified targets.
  • Demonstrates focus on meeting program commitments.
  • Aptitude for working with numbers with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Mechanical aptitude for hands on task requiring small hand tools.
  • A continuous improvement mentality and the ability to apply this personal capability and knowledge to the companies process and products
