About the Role
Paladin Security is hiring a Healthcare Security Shift Lead for the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre — a 49-bed facility serving the Twillingate community with both acute care and long-term care services. As a Shift Lead, you’ll play a key role in ensuring safety and security for patients, staff, and visitors, while supervising and supporting the on-site security team.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the on-site security team.
- Ensure compliance with Paladin Security policies and NL Health Services Occupational Health & Safety standards.
- Maintain regular communication with NL Health Services site management.
- Verify that all officers receive mandatory orientation and training.
- Deliver excellent customer service and defuse difficult situations professionally.
- Supervise, motivate, and support security staff, recommending commendations where appropriate.
- Manage documentation, including incident reports, sign-in sheets, overtime approvals, shift swaps, and client updates.
- Assist with scheduling and ensure shift coverage, including last-minute changes.
- Perform site patrols and respond to security codes and calls.
- Conduct fire drills, safety education sessions, and maintain security records.
- Attend scheduled and unscheduled meetings as required.
- Perform other duties requested by NL Health Services in coordination with Paladin management.
Requirements
Must-Have Qualifications
- Reside in Twillingate, Newfoundland.
- Previous supervisory/leadership experience.
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR certification.
- Comfortable working in a hospital environment.
