We have a full-time position for a Service Technician III in Ottawa, ON.

The Service Technician III is a senior-level, fully qualified technician within the BOXX Modular branch. This role is responsible for advanced maintenance, repair, refurbishment, and configuration of modular rental units to ensure fleet readiness, quality standards, safety compliance, and cost efficiency.

At this level, the Service Technician III independently completes complex and non-routine projects with minimal supervision, develops solutions to technical challenges, and contributes to process improvements. The role also provides mentorship and technical guidance to junior technicians and supports overall branch operational performance. Work is performed in the yard (outdoor environment), shop, and occasionally at customer sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex repairs, maintenance, and refurbishment of modular units, including structural, interior, and exterior work.
  • Lead full unit reconfigurations based on customer specifications (kitchenettes, washrooms, wall systems, framing, doors/windows, siding, etc.).
  • Diagnose and resolve non-routine issues using sound technical judgment and cost-effective solutions.
  • Review and ensure quality of completed work to meet company standards.
  • Install and repair flooring (including tile), walls, exterior steel siding, windows, doors, moldings, and hardware.
  • Perform general, rough, and finish carpentry and framing.
  • Install kitchenettes, toilets, sinks, and related fixtures.
  • Support material handling and ensure proper coordination of resources for larger projects.
  • Maintain yard and shop organization and cleanliness.
  • Ensure adherence to company safety standards, reporting requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Conduct risk assessments and promote safe work practices.
  • Review daily system submissions (e.g., Fleet App) for accuracy and completeness.
  • Recommend improvements to fleet condition, repair processes, and cost efficiencies.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to Service Technician I and II team members.
  • Lead daily toolbox meetings as required.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualification

  • Minimum 5+ years of general construction, modular, or related trade experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently complete complex and non-routine technical projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of carpentry, structural modifications, siding, finishing work, and basic plumbing fixture installation.
  • Proven ability to mentor or provide guidance to less experienced technicians.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently with work assigned in terms of objectives and priorities.
  • Experience in modular, trailer, or RV environments considered an asset.
  • Valid Driver’s License with clean driving abstract required.
  • Fall protection, First Aid, and WHMIS certifications considered an asset.
  • Forklift/tow motor certification considered an asset.
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written.

Physical Requirements

  • Work performed in yard (outdoor), shop, and occasional customer site environments.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions throughout the year.
  • Fast-paced environment with changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Occasional local travel to customer sites during work hours
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including prolonged standing, bending, climbing, and repetitive movements.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
