The City of Courtenay Recreation Programming Division is inviting applications for a Gymnastics Coach. The Recreation Programming Division is responsible for the provision of programs and leisure opportunities for all age groups year-round. The Division promotes healthy lifestyles and works with individuals and community groups in the provision of recreation services.

As a Gymnastics Coach you are responsible for supervising, implementing and facilitating registered and drop-in Gymnastics programs, including set-up/take-down of equipment, preparing report cards, program planning, adhering to safety protocols and assisting with the mentorship of staff/participants.

Minimum Requirements

Education Requirements:

  • Grade 11 or equivalent
  • NCCP Gymnastics Foundation Level 1 or previous experience in gymnastics
  • First Aid Level 1 & CPR C
  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
  • Level 2 or 3 NCCP certifications
  • Level 1, 2, or 3 Trampoline certifications
  • Respect in Sport Certificate
  • High Five Certificate
  • At least 1-year experience in the delivery of Gymnastics in a community setting.
  • Some knowledge of Gymnastic skills and recreation programs
  • Interpersonal, communication, time-management, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work as a team and independently
  • Ability to build healthy relationships with children and promote positive values and recreational benefits
  • Physical ability to frequently lift heavy objects such as gymnastics equipment & perform participant spotting

This position is non-union, hours may vary from 0 – 30 per week and may include afternoons and evenings Friday through Tuesday. The wage rate ranges from $20-$35 depending on experience and qualifications. An additional 12.4% of gross wages is paid in lieu of vacation and statutory holidays.
