POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Centre Director, the Team Mentor plays a key leadership role in maintaining high-quality learning environments across all age groups. This role includes mentoring educators, modeling best practices, supporting curriculum implementation, and ensuring compliance with CCEYA standards. As a role model to children, families, and colleagues, the Team Mentor helps create a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

This is an on-site role based at a designated Childventures campus.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Mentor and coach educators in classroom management, curriculum delivery, and documentation
  • Support team members in implementing developmentally appropriate, engaging learning experiences
  • Conduct classroom observations to assess program quality and provide timely feedback
  • Ensure compliance with CCEYA and internal health, safety, and operational standards
  • Guide staff in completing observations and maintaining accurate child records
  • Promote inclusivity, emotional well-being, and cultural awareness in every classroom
  • Support curriculum knowledge-building through training sessions and curriculum meetings
  • Model respectful and professional communication with families and team members
  • Collaborate with the Centre Director and Director of Quality to uphold Childventures’ educational standards
  • Act as a liaison during Ministry inspections to ensure compliance and preparedness
  • Other duties as assigned to support centre success

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Certification

  • Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education from a recognized Ontario college
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE)
  • Valid Food Handler Certification is an asset

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in early childhood education
  • Experience supporting multiple age groups is considered an asset

Knowledge & Skills

  • In-depth understanding of the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA)
  • Strong curriculum knowledge and ability to guide others in pedagogical practice
  • Leadership skills with a collaborative and nurturing approach

MINISTRY REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2 Step TB
  • Updated Immunizations (Tetanus, MMR)
  • Health Assessment (deemed fit for work)
  • Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Standard First Aid & CPR Level C
