We are seeking a highly organized and proactiveOperations Coordinator to support the efficient, safe, and timely movement of freight through our terminal operations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced transportation or logistics environment and enjoys coordinating people, equipment, documentation, and communication to keep daily operations running smoothly.
TheOperations Coordinator will work closely with the Terminal Manager, drivers, customers, dispatch, and operations teams to monitor workflow, resolve service issues, support compliance, and help identify opportunities to improve terminal performance.
Location: Truro or New Glasgow, NS
Schedule: Monday - Friday | 8:00am - 5:00pm

What You’ll Do
Operational Coordination
Coordinate daily terminal activities, including freight handling, yard movements, loading and unloading, and equipment utilization. Monitor work schedules, appointments, and truck activity, and prioritize tasks to meet operational deadlines. Ensure accurate documentation and operational logs are maintained. Support dispatching and the allocation of labour, equipment, and resources. Coordinate scanning results and review findings with the Terminal Manager. Liaise with drivers and customers to resolve pickup and delivery issues, including mis deliveries, incorrect delivery information, and unmanifested deliveries.
Communication & Customer Support
Serve as a secondary point of contact for drivers, carriers, contractors, and customers on operational matters. Provide real-time updates on terminal status, delays, or operational changes. Respond promptly to customer inquiries and resolve operational issues professionally.
Safety & Compliance
Enforce terminal safety procedures and company policies at all times. Assist with incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions. Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including port authority, transportation, environmental, and workplace safety requirements.
Administrative & Reporting Duties
Prepare and maintain operational reports, shift summaries, and KPI data. Verify shipping documents, bills of lading, gate tickets, and inventory records. Support audits, inspections, and regulatory documentation as required. Maintain and analyze operational reports such as undelivered freight, No POD, outlier, and driver stops/hours reports.
Continuous Improvement
Identify operational inefficiencies and recommend process improvements. Support the training and onboarding of new terminal staff. Assist management with special projects, peak-period planning, and contingency operations.
Required Qualifications
What We’re Looking For
High school diploma or equivalent. Two to four years of experience in terminal operations, logistics, transportation, or industrial coordination. Strong understanding of terminal workflows and operational procedures. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, terminal management systems, and TruckMate.
Ideal Candidate
You are a dependable, detail-oriented professional who can balance multiple priorities while maintaining clear communication and a strong focus on safety, service, and operational efficiency. You are comfortable working with drivers, customers, dispatch, and management, and you take pride in helping freight move accurately and on time.
