As an Asset Manager - Equipment Recovery & Remarketing, reporting to the Director Leasing Operations, you’ll be responsible for the end‑to‑end management of leased and financed equipment once an account enters default or enforcement. This role acts as the organization’s subject‑matter expert on repossessed assets, overseeing the identification, recovery, storage, repair, valuation, and disposition of equipment.

Working closely with the VP of Leasing, Legal Counsel, and external enforcement partners, the Asset Manager protects asset value, minimizes losses, and maximizes recovery through informed decision‑making and industry‑driven sales strategies. This role requires strong knowledge of equipment, commercial judgment, and an established network of buyers and service providers.

What You'll be Doing:

  • Work directly with bailiffs, sheriffs, private investigators, and legal counsel to locate, secure, and recover financed equipment under PPSA and other enforcement actions.
  • Coordinate repossession logistics, including access, transportation, storage, and chain of custody.
  • Verify asset condition, serial numbers, titles, and registrations upon recovery.
  • Act as the internal point of accountability for all repossessed equipment files.
  • Assess the condition, usability, and marketability of recovered equipment.
  • Determine repair, refurbishment, or reconditioning requirements to preserve or enhance resale value.
  • Source and manage repair vendors, mechanics, and service facilities.
  • Approve and monitor repair costs in alignment with net recovery expectations and internal authority limits.
  • Estimate as‑is, repaired, and orderly liquidation values based on market conditions and asset type.
  • Prepare recovery recommendations for the VP of Leasing, including:
    • Repair vs. sell‑as‑is decisions
    • Timing of sale
    • Expected net recovery and loss mitigation
  • Support impairment, write‑down, and recovery forecasting discussions.
  • Develop and execute equipment disposition strategies to maximize recovery value.
  • Leverage industry expertise and professional networks to source buyers, dealers, and auction channels.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions of sale in alignment with internal policies.
  • Identify and create innovative resale opportunities, including:
    • Direct dealer sales
    • Private buyer placements
    • Auctions or brokered transactions
    • Redeployment into new lease transactions (where applicable)
  • Maintain complete documentation related to asset recovery, repairs, and sale outcomes.
  • Support audits, legal reviews, and portfolio reporting as required.
  • Provide regular reporting on:
    • Repossession status
    • Repair costs
    • Asset inventory
    • Sales pipeline and realized recoveries
  • Identify trends and recommend process improvements related to asset risk and recovery outcomes.

What you Bring:

Experience Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in equipment finance, asset management, leasing, or secured lending.
  • Demonstrated hands‑on experience with repossession, asset recovery, or remarketing of commercial equipment.
  • Strong familiarity with one or more equipment categories (e.g., medical, construction, transportation, industrial, manufacturing).
  • Practical understanding of PPSA enforcement and secured lending processes in Canada.
  • Proven ability to assess equipment condition, repair feasibility, and market value.
  • Established industry contacts (dealers, brokers, auctioneers, repair vendors) considered a strong asset.

Specific Skills:

  • Strong commercial judgment and financial decision‑making
  • Excellent negotiation and relationship‑building skills
  • Ability to operate independently while collaborating with executive leadership
  • Comfortable operating in enforcement, distressed, or time‑sensitive situations
  • Highly organized with strong documentation and follow‑through
  • Solutions‑oriented mindset with a focus on recovery maximization

Other Role Requirements

  • This role is a full time, hybrid position.
