About the role
Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Sustainability Advisor on a permanent basis on our Healthy, Safety and Compliance team.
This position is a hybrid opportunity and is based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Depending on the location of the successful candidate, the role can be performed remotely.
We’re looking for a sustainability professional who can lead strategic and compliance-driven initiatives to improve environmental performance across FCL and local Co-ops—reducing energy, water, and material use while advancing responsible sourcing and greenhouse gas reduction goals.
This person will bring strong subject matter expertise to cross-functional teams and support key sustainability priorities, including life cycle assessments for the Energy Roadmap.
What you’ll do:
- Lead and support strategic sustainability projects across the CRS, embedding sustainable practices into operations through initiatives such as energy efficiency, waste diversion, responsible sourcing, and water reduction.
- Monitor and interpret federal and provincial sustainability regulations to ensure FCL’s compliance, representing FCL on industry committees and maintaining key external relationships.
- Lead the accurate and timely completion of FCL’s annual greenhouse gas emissions and plastics inventories, ensuring alignment with recognized methodologies like the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
- Provide technical and subject matter expertise to support the execution of FCL’s sustainability strategy, including conducting and reviewing life cycle assessments for fuels produced at CRC and CEC.
- Develop and report on sustainability KPIs to track progress toward corporate and public targets, identifying and prioritizing opportunities to enhance performance across FCL facilities. Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate operations, implement process improvements, and strengthen data quality and reporting efficiency.
- Act as a key sustainability contact for local Co-ops, providing guidance and expertise on implementing the CRS Sustainability Strategy.
Who you’ll work with:
The Team: You will work closely with and be responsible for mentoring co-op students within the Sustainability function. In this role you will frequently guide and support cross-functional project teams, and will report directly into the Manager, Sustainability.

Who you are:
You are looking for a career in Health, Safety, Security, & Environment (HSSE) & Sustainability and:
- Have 3-6 years of relevant experience in environmental sustainability, project management, or other related experience.
- Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering, Business/Commerce (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
- Are familiar with greenhouse gas accounting and emissions reporting frameworks, life cycle assessment (LCA), and sustainability reporting standards.
