As a company in the process of expanding our team, we are looking for an Accountant to contribute to our continued growth and success.
Overview
The Property Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions across a portfolio of properties, ensuring accurate processing, organization, and cost control. This role requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Controller, responsibilities include:
Process full-cycle accounts payable, including invoice coding, matching, and vendor reconciliations Ensure timely vendor payments and perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations Coordinate invoice approvals and collaborate across teams to resolve discrepancies and accounting issues Maintain schedules of rents and assist with lease administration tracking and communication to tenants Prepare CAM reconciliations and support tenant recoveries and operating cost allocations Manage purchase orders (POs), including creation, tracking, and matching invoices and budgets Review and price-check invoices against contracts, budgets, and approved agreements Assist with year-end processes, including FS preparation support and working paper preparation Support system implementations and continuous improvement of accounting processes Help with construction-related accounting, including subcontractor draws, progress billings, holdbacks, and payment schedules as needed Provide general accounting and administrative support as required
Qualifications/Experience
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 2–3 years of full-cycle accounting experience in real estate development, property management, or construction Strong experience with rent rolls, CAM reconciliations, and/or construction accounting (AP, draws, holdbacks) is strongly preferred Proficient in Microsoft Office with intermediate Excel skills; experience with Yardi is an asset Strong communication and organizational skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment Strong prioritization skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
