YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Director, Programs, this position supports a cross-functional project team responsible for the administration of complex grant-funded projects.
This is a key position which assists in all phases of the NCC’s granting program, including award agreement negotiations, ongoing project monitoring and review and assisting with active calls for proposals. Responsibilities further include communicating with, and providing guidance to, applicants and grant recipients on funding-related requirements and reporting. The position also contributes to the development of funding calls and processes, policies, procedures, and tools for post-award financial monitoring and compliance.
Specific accountabilities include:
- Post-award monitoring and evaluation by tracking project milestones and collecting and conducting reviews of required reporting (e.g. project workplans, budgets etc.) for compliance, completeness, and correctness. Reporting and communicating potential risks and/or areas of non-compliance.
- Administering award agreements, including preparing and reviewing agreements and amendments,
- Supporting the call for proposals by answering questions from potential applicants, interpreting, and providing clarity on proposal elements, and assisting potential grant recipients with applications.
- Conducting preliminary reviews on proposals to confirm compliance with application requirements and other criteria.
- Supporting activities to advise successful and unsuccessful applicants (e.g. award letters, rejection letters, debriefs).
- Maintaining ongoing and positive communication and engagement with current recipients and member organizations.
- Supporting the development of templates, forms, reports, and processes to administer all phases of the granting program.
- In collaboration with the Director, Programs and grants team, provide critical review and strategic recommendations based on funded projects to determine future funding calls/strategies.The position may be required to perform additional duties as assigned by the Director, Programs.
WHAT YOU BRING
- A university degree with extensive experience in grant administration, ideally in the public or not-for-profit sector.
- Knowledge of research funding including knowledge of post-award compliance best practices, especially in post-secondary institutions
- Strong analytical and objective problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a commitment to providing high quality client management and engagement.
- Skill in designing, writing, and editing complex funding documents including reporting requirements that align with policies, procedures and agreements. Experience in interpreting and applying government regulations and proposal guidelines.
- Advanced computer skills with proficiency in the Microsoft Suite. Comfortable setting up, working with and troubleshooting technology systems and paperless workflows.
- Resourceful self-starter with a proven ability to manage and prioritize projects effectively to meet deadlines.
- Comfortable with working remotely and independently with the ability to work collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders.
- Ability to work with an ethnically and culturally diverse population.
- Fluency in French (verbal and written) would be considered an asset.
- Positive and eager attitude that will bring energy to the organization.
- Must reside in Canada and be legally entitled to work in Canada
Salary range as of October 2025: $90,000 to $100,000, plus benefits
