Please note this is a casual position working 3 hours per day, 5-7 days per week every other week Reporting to the Hydrogen Site Supervisor, the Operator is responsible for operating, maintaining and monitoring the facility assets in a safe, reliable, cost-efficient manner. Responsibilities include performing routine to complex, non-routine tasks, troubleshooting and resolving operational upsets, ensuring equipment is operating within design limits, and overseeing routine field activities of contractors.
The Operator will perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with EnPower’s corporate values, policies, programs, processes and operating procedures.
Responsibility Area #1 – Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality (HSSEQ) Ensure that the HSSEQ policies, programs and procedures are not only followed but are engrained in all field operations and maintenance tasks through detailed, proactive planning of field activities, field inspections/audits and active re-enforcement of a safety-first culture.
Demonstrate visible safety leadership including stopping work to ensure safe execution of all tasks, identifying and resolving safety hazards and providing positive safety observations.
Conduct Pre-job Safety meetings, conduct Job Hazard Analysis, issue Safe Work Agreements and follow Safe Control of Work.
Responsible to understand Emergency Response Plans and perform roles as part of an Incident Command System.
Responsibility Area #2 – Field Operations Responsible for ensuring Standard and Site-Specific Operating / Maintenance Procedures are followed for all field activities as detailed in the EnPower Integrated Management System (EIMS).
Responsible for ensuring equipment is operating within design parameters and following the Management of Change process to address/resolve any identified issues.
Leading and/or supporting the detailed field-level planning of facility outages (planned or unplanned) which may include complex non-routine operating activities, complex system wide energy isolation, coordination of maintenance and/or integrity inspection activities with internal and/or external resources, capital project work, etc.
Troubleshoot and resolve operational upsets and participate and/or lead technical investigations to identify route causes and permanent fixes.
Coordinate, plan and oversee routine field activities of contractors.
Responsibility Area #3 – Continuous Improvement and Capital Projects Responsible for making recommendations to continuously improve equipment and facility performance, reduce costs and increase reliability.
Through the course of executing field activities assess and make recommendations to continuously improve the thoroughness and fit-for-purpose nature of the EIMS standards, processes, procedures and work aids.
Participate and/or lead field investigations to identify root causes to permanently resolve safety, operational and technical incidents.
Responsibility Area #4 – People & Leadership Represent ATCO’s core values within the communities and industries we serve.
Ensure the tools, skills and resources necessary to conduct work in a safe, competent and environmentally responsible manner are available.
Provide mentoring, coaching, and on-the-job training to junior Operators to support their development and progression.
Responsibility Area #5 – Customers Understand and meet commercial obligations (daily nominations) to customers through the daily execution and planning of field activities.
Maintain good corporate relationships with landowners, service providers, and customers
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: 4th Class Power Engineering
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Strong team player with good time-management skills.
Experience working in industrial facilities, preferably oil and gas facilities.
Experience working with trades and performing maintenance activities.
High degree of flexibility with the ability to contribute positively to a team environment.
Efficient computer skills with good working knowledge of MS Office and plant control systems.
Valid Driver’s License (class 5 minimum).
