Health and Safety Officer, Mechanical Construction

Toronto, Ontario | Full-Time, Permanent Salary: $75,000 to $85,000 CAD annually Schedule: 40 hours per week Start Date: Immediate opening Travel: Occasional travel between project sites may be required. A monthly travel allowance is provided.

As the Health and Safety Officer, you will support the company's COR-certified health and safety program while working closely with the Field Safety Manager, site supervisors, workers, and subcontractors. This role is ideal for a construction safety professional who enjoys combining field involvement, training, documentation, compliance management, and practical hazard prevention.

Competitive annual salary of $75,000 to $85,000 CAD Full-time, permanent employment Comprehensive health and insurance benefits Monthly travel allowance for required project travel Exposure to major mechanical construction projects Opportunity to contribute to an established COR-certified safety program Diverse project portfolio across healthcare, education, government, pharmaceutical, commercial, institutional, and industrial construction What You Will Do Support the ongoing administration and improvement of the company's COR-certified health and safety program Work with site supervisors to identify hazards and implement appropriate corrective measures Prepare and maintain health and safety boards for new construction sites Provide documentation and administrative support to the Field Safety Manager during inspections and follow-up activities Participate in investigations involving incidents, injuries, property damage, and near-misses Assist with worker and subcontractor safety orientations, training, and communication Help develop site-specific health and safety plans and supporting documentation Monitor project compliance with Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act, applicable construction regulations, WSIB requirements, and company procedures Maintain company safety information within ISNetworld, Avetta, and other third-party compliance systems Participate in project, client, and safety meetings when required Maintain accurate and confidential employee and organizational records Represent the company professionally when working with clients, employees, subcontractors, and external partners Required Qualifications Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Safety, or a related discipline Previous health and safety experience within the construction industry Working knowledge of construction hazard identification and control practices Strong written communication, documentation, organization, and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with field personnel, supervisors, subcontractors, and project leadership Valid Ontario Class G driver's licence and access to reliable transportation for project-site travel Preferred Qualifications Previous mechanical construction experience CHSO, CRSP, or another recognized health and safety certification Candidates who meet the core construction safety requirements are encouraged to apply even if they do not hold a professional safety designation.
