The Actuarial Services practice is just one of many consulting services groups that form part of RSM’s consulting line of business. You will have the opportunity to provide advice covering traditional actuarial services, risk and financial modeling software, enterprise risk management, insurance management, capital and financial modeling, process risk and controls, data analytics, and insurance transformation projects. Simply put, you will consistently strive to provide economic and financial value optimization for our clients and their customers using risk management and insurance strategies and techniques.
As a Manager, Actuarial Services, you’ll pair strong actuarial expertise with leadership skills to guide teams, manage client relationships, and deliver high-quality solutions for middle-market P&C insurers. You will:
Client leadership & delivery
- Manage actuarial engagements across pricing, reserving, financial condition testing, and capital modeling.
- Serve as the day-to-day client contact, ensuring deliverables are accurate, timely, and aligned with expectations.
- Review and synthesize technical work into clear, executive-ready insights for client stakeholders and regulators.
- Oversee model development, governance, and controls while balancing technical rigor with practical application.
Growth & market strategy
- Support business development by contributing to proposals, client presentations, and forecasts.
- Build trusted relationships with client teams, helping identify opportunities for additional support and solutions.
- Contribute to thought leadership on actuarial reforms, pricing practices, and emerging industry trends.
People & practice development
- Lead and coach a team of actuarial professionals, providing feedback, guidance, and stretch opportunities.
- Ensure project teams are structured efficiently and remove roadblocks to keep engagements on track.
- Foster a collaborative, supportive culture that emphasizes accountability, innovation, and professional growth.
- Stay up to date on evolving regulations, pricing methodologies, and actuarial best practices, and help translate them into RSM service offerings.
The successful candidate should meet the following requirements:
- University degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics or similar
- At least 10 years of relevant work experience
- Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA) and Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS)
- Experience in P&C insurance pricing, segmentation modeling, product reforms, data analytics, and predictive modeling.
- Proven experience preparing and defending rate filings, including direct interaction with regulators such as the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA), with the ability to translate technical results into clear, regulator-ready communications.
- Deep understanding of insurance claims in the Canadian market, with the ability to interpret claims data, identify emerging trends, and translate insights into pricing, reserving, and risk management strategies.
- Experience managing and coaching junior actuarial staff from a career development perspective
- Experience leading actuarial team and/departments including recruiting, staff management, and stakeholder management
- Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and attain deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Strong bilingual capabilities (French and English), with the ability to advise and support clients in Quebec’s insurance market.

- Previous work experience and strong knowledge of actuarial pricing software an asset (AKUR8, Radar, Emblem)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint)
- Previous work experience with SQL, Visual Basic, R, Python, or Tableau considered an asset

The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
Compensation Range: $103,500 - $176,000
Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
