POSITION DESCRIPTION:
As an AI Technical Lead, you will be a founding leader of one of our new AI Pods, reporting directly to the Group Chief AI / Technology Officer. This is a high-impact, hands-on role focused on leveraging cutting-edge Generative AI tools to build innovative solutions and new products across our diverse portfolio of software companies.
You will act as a key technical driver and project leader, incubating AI initiatives at the group level before potentially decentralizing them. You will blend deep technical expertise with emerging leadership skills, managing a small offshore team and collaborating directly with portfolio company stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- **Hands-On AI Development:**Lead and directly contribute to the hands-on development of enterprise-level applications using cutting-edge Generative AI development tools. Expect to be actively coding and building.
- AI Project Leadership & Execution: Drive AI projects from ideation through to successful delivery. Understand business needs within portfolio companies and translate them into actionable AI-driven solutions, focusing on new product development and revenue generation.
- Team Leadership & Management: Build, lead, and manage a small offshore development team (based in our Lebanon center) within your pod. This includes screening, vetting, onboarding, and guiding team members.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Confidently engage with CTOs, R&D leaders, and other senior stakeholders across various portfolio companies. Effectively communicate project progress, technical concepts, and value propositions.
- Tooling Expertise & Innovation: Stay abreast of the rapidly evolving AI landscape, particularly Generative AI development tools (e.g., Q Developer Pro, Cursor, Bolt, various LLMs). Evaluate, select, and apply the most effective tools and techniques for specific projects, articulating the "fit for purpose" rationale.
- Cross-Portfolio Collaboration & Travel: Work across different portfolio companies with diverse technology stacks (from modern to legacy). Travel internationally (estimated ~20-30%, variable) to portfolio company sites (e.g., UK, Australia, and more) to understand requirements, collaborate with teams, and drive projects.
- Technical Problem Solving: Quickly assess technical environments, identify challenges, and leverage AI tooling to accelerate development and overcome obstacles, potentially across various legacy languages and frameworks (e.g., Java, C#, PHP, Kotlin).
REQUIRED/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrable track record of building and deploying enterprise-level applications using Generative AI development tools. Be prepared to show examples of what you have built.
- Deep engineering background with significant hands-on coding experience. You must be comfortable and willing to actively code and contribute technically.
- Strong practical familiarity with the capabilities, use cases, and trade-offs of various Generative AI development tools and models. Strong opinions based on experience are a plus.
- Good leadership skills with some experience (or strong aptitude for) managing or leading small technical teams. Offshore team management experience is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; confident engaging with senior technical and business leaders without being intimidated.
- Proven ability to learn quickly, adapt to different technical environments, and solve complex problems.
- Passionate, proactive, and results-oriented with a "builder" mindset and a hunger to make an impact.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required for project needs.
- Based in Eastern Time Zone (Canada or US) preferred due to collaboration needs across North America and Europe.
