What is the opportunity?
At RBC Capital Markets, a premier global investment bank and a core part of Royal Bank of Canada's business, we are seeking a talented individual to lead our Pre-Trade Compliance technology team. The team is responsible for “Fortress” application which performs a broad set of pre-trade checks across a range of asset classes.
What will do you do?
- Lead a cross-functional application team of 15 people (distributed across Canada, the US and India)
- Partner with senior stakeholders across the business, functions and technology
- Own and evolve the Capital Markets Pre-Trade Compliance technology strategy
- Lead and deliver complex projects to further develop the internal product offering
- Implement strong governance processes to drive successful project delivery and manage project financials
- Chair steering committees to govern project execution, and actively manage risks and issues
- Continuously refine QA processes to maximise quality
- Actively manage vendor relationships
- Contribute to an exceptional employee experience through strong people leadership practices that amplify our Collective Ambition and exemplify the Leadership Model to inspire, support and empower employees to achieve their potential
- This role provides a good balance between stakeholder management (25%), project governance (25%), technical design / architecture / coding (25%), and team/people management (25%)
What do you need to succeed?
Must haves:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Hardworking, dedicated, detail oriented, focused on quality and a team player, with effective verbal and written communications
- Proactive mindset, self-motivated individual with a proactive "can-do" attitude, capable of leading independently
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and team members
- 10+ years of Capital Markets industry experience across securities and derivatives asset classes
- 10+ years of technology experience in server-side Java
- 5+ years leading high performing development teams
- Strong experience in developing full-stack applications using technologies such as Java 17, Spring Boot, ReactJS
- Experience with middleware messaging platforms such as Solace
- Experience with cache technologies such as GridGain
- Strong understanding of design patterns, data structures, and object-oriented programming concepts
Nice to****haves:
- Experience in pre-trade compliance controls, such as:
- Business Conduct (Dodd-Frank and EMIR/UK EMIR Protocols)
- Regulatory Margin Requirements
- Derivatives Trading Obligation
- Initial Margin Documentation Relief Check
- KYC (know your client)
