Position Summary The Director of Reporting & Technical Accounting leads the organization’s external and internal financial reporting and serves as the primary authority on complex accounting matters. Responsible for all Financial Statements and MD&A preparation and coordinate with Auditors. This role ensures compliance with IFRS, oversees technical accounting analyses, and manages the preparation of accurate, timely financial statements and disclosures.
What You Will Be Doing Financial Reporting
- Lead all external reporting processes and audit coordination and management
- Prepare and review quarterly, and annual financial statements in Workiva including all appropriate disclosures
- Ensure financial statements and disclosures are complete, accurate and compliant with IFRS
- Coordinate with Deloitte the audit process, submissions and timelines
- Drive process improvements and automation in reporting and close activities
- Coordinate and work closely with subsidiaries for all quarterly deliverables
- Prepare CODM Monthly Reporting Package
Technical Accounting
- Review all PPAs, Impairment and accounting memos by subs
- Serve as subject matter expert on complex accounting issues, including revenue recognition, leases, equity, business combinations, impairments, and consolidation
- Proactively research, interpret, and implement new accounting standards and regulatory guidance
- Prepare and review technical accounting memos and position papers for the WELL Group
- Responsible for roll-out of all new accounting pronouncements that impacts WEL Group
- Prepare all policies that are required to standardise WELL accounting processes eg: Revenue Recognition, Impairment, etc
- Advise management on accounting implications of business transactions and PPAs
- Provide accounting guidance and training across the organization
- Maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting (SOX compliance if applicable)
You Have
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- CPA designation required (or international equivalent)
- Advanced education (e.g., master’s in accounting, Finance, or MBA) is an asset
- Strong technical accounting and IFRS expertise
- Experience leading external audits and complex reporting processes
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally in a multi-entity and/or public company environment
- Hands-on experience with Workiva and reporting process automation is an asset
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
