Standard Aero, a leading aerospace maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility, is currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Paint Technician to join our dynamic team in Winnipeg. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with expertise in spray paint, ensuring the highest standards of quality and precision within our Military and Defense business unit.

What You’ll Do

  • Select, prepare and mix solutions or coatings according to formulas and specifications and create spray recipes and sequences for spraying.
  • Operate blasting equipment to clean and prepare the surface of materials and components.
  • Prepare and mask parts with fixtures, rubber, tape, tafa, antibond or metal masks prior to coating.
  • Set up and operate various types of manual, spray guns to apply coating to parts.
  • Set bake/cure oven controls for correct temperature and records time on process charts.
  • Remove masking, clean overspray and wash parts.
  • Inspect surfaces visually for defects and compliance with specifications using micrometers, calipers, elcometers, profilometers or related devices prior to and after applying coating.
  • Cleans and maintains spray/coating equipment, fixtures and blast cabinets.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of cell processes.
  • Cross train in other complementary skills and seek endorsements for those skills as needed to support production requirements.
  • Move between production assignments that utilize multiple skills endorsements as needed to support production requirements.
  • Participate in the cross training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements.
  • Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.

Training Schedule: Monday to Thursday 10 hour shifts Shift Requirement: Must be able to work either evening shifts M-Th 10 hour shifts or weekend shifts Fri-Sun 12 hour shifts (6:00 am to 6:00 pm) Basic Qualifications What Skills You’ll need

  • At least 1 year of experience in paint application using spray guns.
  • Must be willing to use personal protective equipment including masks, gloves, respirator, etc.
  • At least 1 year of experience using precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted) for approximately 25% of the average work day.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.

Preferred Requirements

  • Working knowledge of production management computer system and other related internal control systems.
