Summary

Bell Canada is seeking a qualified Network Engineer with lots of campus LAN experience to lead a technical team that supports the network infrastructure of a facility that hosts conferences, tradeshows, sporting events and concerts. This role is for supporting both the event side of the business and all the specialized building systems that operate within the facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provision/Configuration of network equipment to support the requirements of conferences/events/concerts – Cisco Switches, Wireless, Firewalls, Phone Systems, Servers.
  • Troubleshooting network connectivity issues - Wireless, Wired, Layer2, Layer3, DHCP/DNS, managed switches/routers/firewalls
  • Supporting field technicians – A team of technicians take care of most of the physical aspects of wiring and connecting devices (fiber optic and cat6). You will be their level 2 supporting the logical configuration of the equipment and advanced troubleshooting
  • Event coordination - working with the technical teams of clients to plan and coordinate the network needs to host their conference/events/concerts.
  • Project support – working with the facility IT project teams to implement the network components to their various projects
  • Network upgrades – Design implement and document
  • Network security – testing auditing and patching

Critical Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in a computer science field with a focus on Campus LAN networking
  • 5+ years experience in campus LAN networking (Switching, routing, firewalls, wireless, IP phone system) specifically working with Cisco IOS
  • Experience in network switch configuration and troubleshooting
  • Experience in working in a Cisco Campus Architecture (3 tier or collapsed core)
  • Experience in network equipment interconnected with fiber optics
  • Experience in controller based wireless networking
  • Experience in Next Generation Firewalls
  • Excellent customer communication skills
  • A desire to learn and problem solve
  • Strong team spirit and ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and multiple projects
  • Proven ability to build effective relationships with partners and customers
  • Certifications are preferred (CCNA / CCNP / CCIE)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical certification in relevant products desired (CCNA / CCNP / CCIE)
  • Communication skills
  • Propensity to act
  • Organizational skills
