The District Principal – Enhanced Services and Programs is responsible for leading the implementation, coordination, and continuous improvement of district-wide supports that enhance Indigenous student success, attendance, and well-being, with a specific focus on Nisga'a learners.
This position translates district strategy into coherent, school-based action, ensuring that students experience coordinated, culturally grounded, and responsive supports. The District Principal works directly with school administrators, district staff, families, and community partners to remove barriers and strengthen outcomes.
The role holds direct accountability for attendance improvement, coordinated service delivery, development of programs to grow Indigenous student engagement, and targeted student success strategies, while supervising key personnel who support enhanced service delivery to Indigenous learners.

RequiredQualifications
- Master's degree in Education, Indigenous Studies, Leadership or a related field
- Bachelor's degree in education w/ a valid B.C. Teaching Certificate and certification by the B.C. Teachers' Regulation Branch.
- A minimum of five years of combined progressive district leadership experience in Indigenous education (or related role), and school administration.
- Experience in strategic planning, program implementation, and community engagement
- Demonstrated experience supporting Indigenous learners and communities
- Leadership skills in planning, implementing, and evaluating district-wide initiatives & priorities
- Experience with student support systems, inclusive education, or engagement strategies
PreferredAttributes
- Strong relational leadership and decision-making skills, the ability to inspire and motivate others
- Strong understanding of Indigenous education and the essential role of Indigenous language and cultural learning in learning design and delivery
- Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Experience leading and teaching in a unionized public-school setting using the BC curriculum
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
- Practices a growth mindset, can think critically and creatively.
- Systems thinking approach to improving systems and structures to improve service delivery
- Focused approach using strength-based solutions to address educational challenges and have a proven ability to lead change.
- Embraces challenges and seek opportunities to develop as an educational leader and demonstrate commitment to ongoing professional learning.
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of education and leadership.
- Strong leadership and management skills for leading teams and resources.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical skills to assess curriculum effectiveness and implement improvements.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills to address academic issues and ensure program coherence.
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in education and leadership.
Compensation******& **Incentives
- Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications, Salary range ($168,849 - $177,893)
- Full-Time, Term with a possibility on extension, dependent on funding; reporting to the Director of Instruction
- Frequent travel within the Nisga'a School District and occasional travel outside the district.
- Evening and weekend work may be required (meetings, events, and community engagements)
